NEW: First pictures of Prince George's christening.

Royal baby alert! Royal baby alert! Oh wait…that was July.

Early this morning, the youngest member of the British Royal Family made his second public appearance for his christening.

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was christened at Chapel Royal at St. James’ Palace.

Attendees at the christening included The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince William and Catherine Prince Harry (uncle), Pippa Middleton (aunt), James Middleton (uncle), Prince Charles and Camilla (the Duchess of Cornwall) (paternal grandparents), Michael and Carole Middleton (maternal grandparents), Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip (great-grandparents), Justin Selby (the Archbishop of Canterbury) who performed the ceremony, close friends and family members.

Four generations of royals were at the christening (the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George). The last time that happened was 100 years ago with Queen Victoria, Prince Edward VII, Prince George V and Prince Edward VIII.

The full list of godparents include Zara Tindall (William’s cousin), Emilia Jardine-Paterson (one of Kate’s closest friends at Marlborough College), William van Cutsem (a family friend), Hugh Grosvenor (whose mother is William’s godmother), Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton (William and Harry’s Private Secretary), Oliver Baker (a friend) and Julia Samuel (an old friend of Princess Diana’s).

Whilst it was expected that the ceremony would take place at the traditional venue of Buckingham Palace, it was actually held at Chapel Royal at St. James’ Palace. This is the same place where Queen Victoria was married, Princess Diana’s body lay before burial and Princess Beatrice was christened in 1988.

Prince George wore replica of the lace christening gown worn by Queen Victoria’s daughter in 1841 and last worn by Lady Louise Windsor in 2004. Seeing as the gown’s 172 years old, the Queen commissioned an identical one to be made for future royal babies.
