What is Sirens about?

Sirens follows Devon, a woman who becomes increasingly concerned about her younger sister Simone's alarmingly close relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell.

Set over one explosive Labour Day weekend at Michaela's lavish beach estate, Devon embarks on what she believes is a necessary intervention. Michaela's cult-like life of luxury has become like a drug to Simone, but Devon has no idea what a formidable opponent she's about to face in Michaela, who reigns supreme on the island and in Simone's heart.

Series creator Molly Smith Metzler described it as having "a lot of teeth" with "real moments of drama" that will make viewers uncomfortable.

"'Operatic' is a word I like to use to describe it," she explained. "It's a true dark comedy — and it's got a Greek mythology vibe."

The show promises to be an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class dynamics.

Who is in the cast of Sirens?

Netflix has assembled an absolutely stellar cast for this limited series. Oscar-winner Julianne Moore stars as the mysterious Michaela Kell, a philanthropist and animal activist who runs the island's high society and is married to billionaire Peter Kell. Metzler described Moore as "the dream for this role because she does feel ethereal. She's from another kingdom. She is not a normie." Isn't that the truth?

Meghann Fahy, who captivated audiences in The White Lotus and The Perfect Couple, plays Devon DeWitt. Her character is described as funny, resilient, and fiercely protective of her younger sister.

House of the Dragon breakout star Milly Alcock portrays Simone DeWitt, Devon's sharp and charming younger sister who works as a personal assistant to billionaire Michaela. Rounding out the main cast is Kevin Bacon as Peter Kell, Michaela's wealthy husband.

The supporting cast includes Glenn Howerton (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Felix Solis (Ozark), and Bill Camp (The Queen's Gambit), adding even more acting firepower to this already impressive ensemble.

When is the release date for Sirens?

Mark your calendars! Sirens will make its debut on Netflix on May 22, 2025. The five-episode limited series isn't based on a book — as you might expect from its literary feel — but rather on Metzler's own play Elemeno Pea, which she wrote while at Juilliard.
