Yes, Neighbours is still a thing.
In fact, the 32-year-old Aussie drama is serving up some of the soapiest storylines we’ve seen in years.
Case in point: this season, Dee Bliss comes back from the dead.
That’s Dee, as in Dee Bliss. As in the blonde beauty who married Toadfish “Toadie” Rebecchi for a few minutes in 2003 before they got distracted kissing and their car ploughed through a fence over a cliff and into the ocean.
You remember, right? (Post continues after gallery.)
Toadie's and Dee's tragic wedding
Her body was never found; she was gone forever. Or so we thought.
Then came last year’s cliffhanger (sorry, too soon?) final episode in which Toadie’s brother sat him down to tell him is dead wife might not actually be all that dead, because he’d spotted her in Colac, Victoria.
Questions: How did she survive? Why did she not come back to Ramsay St? Why is she so rubbish at hiding – I mean, did she ever even leave the state?
All we know from the 2017 promo is that Toadie hires a PI to try answer some of these questions, that his pregnant new wife finds out about it, and that he opens a door and looks shocked by what’s on the other side.
The exact details of Dee's 14-week guest appearance remains under wraps, but the actress who brings Dee to life, Madeleine West, assured The Geelong Advertiser viewers won't be disappointed.
“[Dee]’s not a ghost, nor is she a figment of Toadie’s imagination and she wasn’t abducted by aliens," the mother of six said, shutting down three of our top five theories in the process.
"Suffice to say, she has returned and the audience will be in for several big shocks.”
If last season is anything to go by, we can expect some serious drama to unfold in the scandal-plagued Melbourne cul-de-sac.
