"I took the plunge and changed all of my skincare over to natural products."

In the past when I’ve tried certain makeup and had a bad reaction, the calming and soothing treatments I was recommended to use were natural. Which got me thinking, maybe I should just make the complete switch to “natural” beauty products.

How hard could it be?

I started swapping out all of my skincare and makeup from the day that the decision was made. OUT with the traditional ‘chemical filled’ products with unpronounceable ingredients. IN with the botanical ingredient rich ‘natural’ products.

After a little research and a lot of review reading, these are the products that I settled on for my new natural products line up. (Post continues after gallery.)

It took about a month to get my routine of products down pat. That’s when I really started to see the benefits.

The good.

The smell of these products is incredible. No more fake fragrances hanging around. If you’re a fan of florally green scents like me, you’ll love this stuff.

I got really into facial oils. Like REALLY into them. Due to a lot of the natural oils that I was now using, my face began to produce less oil of its own and my face felt so much more hydrated, soft, and supple.

Of the ‘all natural’ products that I used, I found face cleanser, serum, moisturiser, and body moisturiser, the most effective by far. They worked just as well as any other products I’ve used before. The one unique added benefit that they have though, is that feeling of knowing my skin is absorbing beautiful and natural botanical extracts instead of unknown, unpronounceable synthetic chemicals.

My favourite brands of all of the natural products that I used were REN and Trilogy.

The bad.

As expected, there were a few of the natural products that weren’t quite up to scratch.

There was definitely a lot of trial and error, especially in the deodorant department. I think I tried about five different kinds. This was a tough one. I just couldn’t find one that worked as well as my forever trusty pit-loving Dove Invisible Dry.

I tried out a few different brands of natural shampoo and conditioner too, free from all of the harsh chemicals that most mainstream haircare products contain. But alas, I found them to, well, not do very much to my hair.

They didn’t particularly feel like they cleaned or conditioned my hair and left my strands feeling gritty and brittle. No deal.

I also wasn’t overly impressed by the natural makeup products like foundation and mascara. They just didn’t last on my face as long as they needed to. But I do have to mention that I tried a couple of really lovely natural blushes that I would absolutely use again.

My favourite was KJAER WEIS cream blush in the shade Joyful.

The Verdict.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by my venture into the word of natural beauty products. I was a little sceptical after some of the reviews I’d read in my searches, which chronicled mass breakouts from making the switch.

This certainly didn't happen to me.

The things that I’ve really loved have now become absolute staples in my routine. My new and improved line up contains the Cream Cleanser by Trilogy, the Face Hero Face Oil by Go-To Skincare, and the Vita Mineral Daily Supplement Moisturising Cream.

The main thing I’ve learned is that, just like all beauty products, it’s all about trial and error and what works best for you. Natural deodorant? Here's where we part ways.
