Nine years after their breakup, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber have built something remarkable.

We have seen some pretty ugly Hollywood breakups over the years. But there are some famous exes who know how to keep things amicable. Case in point: Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber.

During their 11-year relationship, the actors welcomed two children, Sasha in 2007, and Kai in 2008. And despite parting ways in 2016, Watts, 56, and Schreiber, 57, continue to co-parent and support each other very publicly.

They also promised to put their kids first.

"We're doing things very differently. I'm pretty proud of us, corny as that may sound," Watts told Net-a-Porter in August 2019. "We've made it our absolute priority to be good and kind to each other and we're absolutely committed to that."

And committed they are.

The parents just recently reunited to help move their son Sasha Schreiber into his college dorm at the University of Southern California's School of Dramatic Arts.

Yesterday, Naomi shared a slew of photos on Instagram with Liev at Sasha's new college, in his dorm room, and donning USC caps. In one sweet image, Liev even held his son's hand as they strolled down a street.

Naomi accompanied the photos with a sweet caption, reflecting on the family milestone.

"We packed and unpacked, stacked and colour-coded," the actress began. "We walked and walked, woke up early with excitement. Then we shopped and shopped, and sometimes fought about stupid stuff."

The 56-year-old went on to say that the family laughed, cried, and she "had a few extra secret cries and maybe some not so private ones".

"We hugged a lot. We built things, we talked to robots, we ate good food. We got lost a bunch. We met so many great people. We had deep talks mixed in with a few fart jokes... then gave advice about how the world works.

"But then remembered: he's got this!! He did it!! He dreamed big and worked really hard for something wonderful. Go Sasha – we love you so much."

Liev also commemorated moving day with a video from his son's dorm room, showing his roommates playing with Virtual Reality and Playstation.

"I guess this is what they mean when they say find your people #fighton #usc," the dad wrote alongside the video.

This came three days after Liev shared a photo with Sasha ahead of his college move, expressing how much he was going to miss his son.

"Starting to feel the pull. Gonna miss my ride or die. Having said that, USC is gonna get one of the deepest, kindest, bravest and most beautiful boys I have ever known," Liev wrote.

In June this year, Naomi and Liev also reunited to mark Sasha's high school graduation, sharing photos from the special day.

The proud parents attended the graduation with their respective partners, Billy Crudup and Taylor Neisen. And all four of them were beaming with pride.

"You did it @sashapeteschreiber !!! Congratulations 🥳🤩⚡️💥🎉. My heart ♥️ California here you come!" wrote Naomi on Instagram, along with a slew of photos from the ceremony.

On his own page, Liev wrote "The graduate!!!" alongside a photo of the family.

Both tributes were quickly flooded with messages of support.

"Congratulations! Beautiful extended blended family! ❤️🙌," one follower wrote.

This came three years after Naomi and Liev, along with their new partners, celebrated their daughter Kai's middle school graduation.

The actor has kept her current relationship with actor Billy Crudup relatively quiet, but they are said to have started dating in 2017. Three years later, during his Emmy acceptance speech for The Morning Show, Billy acknowledged Naomi's kids for the first time, saying, "I love you, and thank you."

Then, in 2023, Naomi confirmed she and Billy had wed, sharing a photo on Instagram of the pair outside a courthouse. The wedding was followed by a second ceremony in Mexico City the following year.

Liev, meanwhile, is married to former pageant queen Taylor Neisen. After marrying in July 2023, they welcomed a daughter named Hazel Bee. The parents announced her arrival via Instagram, writing: "Mom and baby are both super happy and healthy. Thanks to all for the love and support."

And, because she is a member of the coolest blended family ever, Naomi commented: "We love baby Hazel!!"

A year prior, she also wished Taylor, who she affectionately called "Tay", a happy birthday on Instagram.

Liev has previously emphasised the importance of "supporting each other" when it comes to co-parenting with Naomi.

While appearing on Sunday Today with Willie Geist in 2018, the Perfect Couple star recalled a time when he "was making jokes" about his ex-wife in front of his children, explaining that their "eyes light up when I talk about her".

"You can see how important it is to them that their parents care about each other," he said.

It's also clear that Sasha and Kai have fun with their parents. In 2020 they shared a TikTok where they made their mum and dad perform a dance, and both actors embraced the routine with gusto.

From silly dances to school graduations, it's clear that Naomi and Liev are their children's biggest cheerleaders.

If that's not fantastic co-parenting, we don't know what is!
