If you're wondering what to get for your next manicure appointment (what nail shape? What nail style? What kind of nail art?!) we've got you sorted, friend.

Because we've done all the leg work and pulled together a round-up of all the manicure trends that are on trend next year, thanks to Pinterest's 2025 Prediction report, which shows the top emerging beauty trends (as well as fashion, home) for the year ahead.

And yes, it's got us feeling a little bit excited.

From burgundy hues to sea-inspired manicures, here's how you'll be wearing your nails in the year ahead.

The biggest nail trends 2025.

  1. Aura nails.

Think mood rings but on your nails. Yes! In 2025, the aura mani is here to stay. If you're not familiar, it's all about honing in one colour (whether it be blue, pink, purple — whatever best represents your energy or vibe!) and creating a gradient look for added dimension and that unique airbrush effect.

Tully Walter, Futures Strategist at Soon Futures told Mamamia, "When we think about the broader conversations around Astrology, the mystic and even the personalisation trend (think how impactful bag charms have been in 2024), auras become a whole new medium for people to explore their identities, self-expression and ultimately create connection and community."

2. Sea-inspired nails.

Confused? Let us explain. According to Pinterest, 2025 is apparently our 'sea witch' era — with 'sea-inspired nails' up 65 per cent. And it's so much more than seashells, octopus and starfish nail art, friends (although, still v cute!).

Next year, you'll see moody mermaid manicures and unique sea-inspired nails that look fresh, mesmerising and planets away from the minimalist 'old money' nail look you sported in 2024.

3. Deep cherry-red nails.

Did you hear the news? Burgundy is back in a big way, with cherry-coded everything coming out on top as one of the biggest trending hues for 2025. Whether you want to thank Hailey Bieber or Sabrina Carpenter for their nail inspo, cherry red nails are the vibe and they've never looked so chic — no matter how you want to wear them. Whether it's a deep all-over hue or cute cherry nail art, it looks both chic and classic.

Walter said, "We saw the cultural imprint of "Tomato Girl Summer" last year, and the early signals of Cherry Coded feel even stickier. We see tastemakers like Hailey Bieber, leaning into this vampier darker hues across her manicures or Olivia Rodrigo just tapped for the new face of Lancôme with a deep, bold lip."

"At the same time, the new creative director of Gucci is leaning into these deep burgundies across the A/W catwalks which is very reminiscent of Tom Ford Era Gucci. But when we start to map this out into a broader cultural context, we know Disney is re-releasing Snow White in March next year and the Wicked sequel is in work, so this will have staying power."

4. 'Goddess' nails.

In 2025, Pinterest said the 'goddess complex' will have a serious moment, with beauty lovers "going all in on their feminine power and embrace their divine drip like never before," said Pinterest in their report, with striking and ethereal gold and jewel-toned nail designs earning their place in the top trending nail designs for 2025.

In fact, the term 'goodness nails' has apparently shot up a whopping 760 per cent on Pinterest, making the buzz around metallic shades, intricate patterns, and luxe nail art designs bigger than ever.

5. Maritime manicures.

Leaning into fashion's trending 'fisherman aesthetic' in 2025, Pinterest said we can expect to embrace a laid-back maritime attitude in all facets of life, bringing nautical vibes to everything — including nails. From deep blues, swirls and fancy sardine nail art.

As Walter told us, "For me, I see two major drivers here. First stylistically, when we think about the pipeline and 20-year cycle of fashion trends — we've cycled through the glitter and glam of Y2K, to Indie Sleaze, so we are now due to see stripes make a major comeback. Think Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl to Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel Cruise."

"But there is also something so incredibly offline about nautical life — there is almost a romance underpinned by the escapism of it all."
