There's nothing worse than finally settling into the couch in your comfiest pyjamas, ready for an evening of relaxation only to spend endless minutes scrolling for options. In a so-called golden age of television, it's somehow harder than ever to know what's worth your precious screen time — and it means we're all prone to wasting that relaxing opportunity altogether.

But I'm here to help you stop doing that with my list of must-watch TV shows that are genuinely worth your time.

From true crime docos to must-see dramas, here's my ultimate guide to the very best shows to stream on 7plus this month.

Doc

Medical procedurals can take us through entertaining and heart-wrenching journeys all in the span of one episode — but they also provide a sense of comfort in their predictable formula, high-stakes drama and the lovable cast of characters we come to know (between medical cases).

Doc is the latest offering in this space, rivalling the likes of Grey's Anatomy and House with episodes you'll want to watch back-to-back.

Dr Amy Larsen, played by Molly Parker, is the chief of internal medicine at Westside Hospital. Her life turns upside down when she suffers a traumatic brain injury in a car accident, causing her to lose her memory of the last eight years — which includes a tense divorce, personal tragedy and a large chunk of her medical career.

With a unique spin on the genre, Doc is a compelling and engaging watch — one that will keep you captivated night after night.

Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed

If you're a true-crime fan, there's no doubt you've heard of the Menendez brothers. Their case made headlines around the world when they were arrested in 1990 and again in 2024 when Ryan Murphy portrayed a fictionalised version of their story in Monsters.

But the new docuseries Menendez + Menudo explores a captivating and horrifying story that adds depth to their case — one which was left out of their initial criminal trial. The documentary examines claims made by ex-Menudo band member Roy Rosselló who says he was raped by the Menendez brothers' father José Menéndez.

On coming forward to tell his story, Executive Producer Jodi Flynn told Variety that Rosselló wanted to "help the Menéndez brothers — he feels like that is part of his journey and part of his healing to do that".

The three-part docuseries features in-depth interviews with people close to both cases and raises questions about child sexual abuse that allegedly extended for 30 years with no action or investigation into José Menéndez. It's a gripping watch.

Paris & Nicole: The Encore

Does it get much better than Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie? I don't know that it does. Our favourite The Simple Life co-stars have reconnected some 20 years after they first graced our screens with their original reality TV series to deliver a fresh new show all about their crazy adventures two decades later.

If you were a fan of the original, you'll know the girls are famous for their hit song 'Sanasa' — which they routinely sang throughout The Simple Life. In The Encore, the girls decide they will write, produce and star in an opera — yes, an opera — based on their hit tune.

From meeting with esteemed members of the fine arts community to tackling the near-impossible task of putting on a one-word opera, the gals get up to their usual shenanigans. And honestly? It's just nice to be along for the ride once again.

Grimm

In Grimm, Portland detective Nick Burkhardt discovers he's descended from monster hunters who can see the supernatural creatures hiding among us. By day, he solves crimes. By night, he battles Wesen — creatures straight from the darkest fairy tales.

What makes this show addictive? It transforms familiar stories into modern thrills, backed by a cast of complex characters including Nick's reluctant Wesen ally Monroe and his increasingly suspicious partner Hank.

The series perfectly balances standalone monster hunts with an unfolding mythology that grows richer each season. Not quite horror, not just fantasy — Grimm creates its own captivating category that explores humanity's darkest impulses through the lens of folklore.
