An eight-year-old boy cradles his sick mum, pleading her to stay alive.

For the last three years, Queensland mum Lori Wright has been battling stage four metastasized breast cancer.

Her eight-year-old son, Tristan, has been watching his mother in pain and undergoing gruelling cancer treatments for almost half of his life.

Now, Lori has shared a heartbreaking image of her young son, showing the world just how much her little boy has been a pillar of strength for her during her sickness, along with a plea to "keep his mummy alive" to see him grow up.

A GoFundMe page set up for the young mum, who lives in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast, said that up until this year, Lori's treatment was "tolerable" but that her condition had now reached a "critical point" requiring expensive treatments.

"[These] not only manage the pain, but sustain her life so she can watch her little boy become a man," the page reads.

"As a single mum, her finances have run completely dry leaving her no where to go from here but to ask for the kindness and generosity of the good people of the world to help prolong her life for both her and her son.

"Please put yourself in her position. The financial stress only feeds the problem."

The page, set up just 11 days ago, has already raised more than $16,000 of its $20,000 goal.
