Sophie still breastfeeds her five-year-old daughter - but her husband isn't a fan.

Sophie Mei Lan, 29, from Wakefield in England, is a proud mum of two beautiful girls: five-year-old Jasmine and two-year-old Arianna.

Despite their ages, Sophie still breastfeeds both girls, and believes it has tightened her bond with her daughters. But her husband is not a fan.

“I don’t think there’s anything strange about feeding your children,” she recently told The Sun.

“Breast milk is nourishing, soothing and it’s free. I must have saved thousands of pounds over the years.

“It’s caused a bit of friction in my relationship. [My husband] Chris would like me to stop because it’s so tiring,” she added.

While they do “argue” about her ongoing breastfeeding, Sophie says they both know that breast milk is “one of the healthiest things we can give our children”.

Writing on her blog, Mama Mei, Sophie shared that when she first fell pregnant with Jasmine, she believed she would only breastfeed “in the car or on my own at home”.

“But as the story goes, when my first child arrived, there was nothing that felt more natural than to breastfeed her,” she wrote.

“I still wouldn’t have predicted that almost five years down the line I’d still be breastfeeding.”

Despite those around her asking her why she was still breastfeeding, and when she was going to stop, Sophie keeps going.

“It nourishes, it soothes, it bonds, it’s free and most of all it’s natural,” she wrote.

With two daughters – both still breastfeeding – Sophie often finds herself with a “child on each boob” and told The Sun she wants to stop eventually before “it gets too much”.

Especially since Jasmine has now started school.

“When they get molar teeth it’s supposed to be harder for them to latch on, so maybe [Jasmine will] wean herself off when she gets to around seven,” she said.
