Every book-to-screen adaptation coming out in 2026.

With the rise of BookTok, celebrity book clubs, and Jacob Elordi carrying a literal novel in his little cargo shorts, reading has never been hotter.

And thanks to this book boom, especially across the romance and fantasy genres, a bunch of novels are set to be turned into TV shows and films — and they're all coming out in 2026. Lucky us!

We've rounded up some of the biggest titles coming this year, so now is the time to crack open a new book before your next fave hits the screen.

1. People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry.

Details: The Netflix movie stars Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, and is directed by Brett Haley.

Release date: January 9, 2026.

Plot: Poppy and Alex have been best friends since college, despite being polar opposites. For a decade, they shared a week-long summer vacation every year until a mysterious fallout two years prior broke their bond.

In a final attempt to fix their friendship, Poppy convinces Alex to take one last trip together. As they navigate old grievances and awkward silences, they must finally confront the romantic tension they've spent years trying to ignore. You can read our review of the movie here.

2. Agatha Christie's Seven Dials by Agatha Christie.

Details: Starring Mia McKenna-Bruce, Helena Bonham Carter, and Martin Freeman. The Netflix series is directed by Chris Sweeney.

Release date: January 15, 2026.

Plot: Set in the 1920s, this witty mystery begins at a lavish house party where a guest is found dead, seemingly from an overdose of sleeping draught. However, the discovery of seven alarm clocks lined up on his mantelpiece suggests a more sinister conspiracy.

The spirited Lady "Bundle" Brent takes it upon herself to investigate, unravelling a dangerous secret society and a plot that threatens the very fabric of the British government.

3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë.

Details: Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, the anticipated movie is directed by Emerald Fennell.

Release date: February 13, 2026.

Plot: This modern reimagining of Brontë's gothic masterpiece explores the obsessive, destructive love between Catherine and the brooding Heathcliff.

Set against the bleak and beautiful Yorkshire moors, the story follows Heathcliff's journey from a homeless orphan to a man consumed by a thirst for vengeance. As the two lovers are torn apart by social class and pride, their passion transcends death, haunting the generations that follow in a cycle of violence.

4. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin.

Details: The HBO series stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell.

Release date: January 18, 2026.

Plot: Set ninety years before Game of Thrones, this series follows the unlikely duo of Ser Duncan the Tall, a brave but naive hedge knight, and his diminutive squire, known as Egg.

Unbeknownst to most, Egg is actually Prince Aegon Targaryen. Together, they wander across Westeros during a time when the Targaryen dynasty is at its peak, but internal tensions are simmering. You can expect a more intimate, character-driven look at the legends of the Seven Kingdoms.

5. Crime 101 by Don Winslow.

Details: Starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry and Barry Keoghan, the movie is directed by Bart Layton.

Release date: February 13, 2026.

Plot: Along the Pacific Coast Highway, a string of high-end jewel heists has left the police baffled. The thief, Davis, lives by a strict set of rules he calls "Crime 101" to stay off the radar.

However, when a rival criminal organisation tries to muscle in on his territory, Davis finds himself in a deadly cat-and-mouse game. Dogged Detective Lou Lubesnik is the only one who realises these crimes aren't the work of a cartel, but a genius loner.

6. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins.

Details: Starring Joseph Zada and Whitney Peak, the film is directed by Francis Lawrence.

Release date: November 20, 2026.

Plot: Set twenty-four years before Katniss Everdeen's story, this prequel focuses on the 50th Hunger Games — the Second Quarter Quell.

A young, cynical Haymitch Abernathy is reaped alongside double the usual number of tributes. As he navigates a particularly brutal arena designed by a vengeful Capitol, Haymitch must use his wits and a newfound alliance to survive.

7. The Odyssey by Homer.

Details: Starring Matt Damon, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson, this epic is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Release Date: July 17, 2026.

Plot: In this mythical action spectacle, the legendary hero Odysseus begins his treacherous ten-year journey home to Ithaca following the fall of Troy.

While his wife Penelope fends off a swarm of aggressive suitors at home, Odysseus must lead his dwindling crew through encounters with vengeful gods, monstrous sirens, and the terrifying Cyclops.

8. Verity by Colleen Hoover.

Details: Starring Anne Hathaway, Josh Hartnett and Dakota Johnson, the latest Colleen Hoover adaptation is directed by Michael Showalter.

Release date: October 2, 2026.

Plot: Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer, who is hired to complete the remaining books in a successful series by the injured author Verity Crawford.

Staying at the Crawford estate, Lowen discovers a hidden, unfinished autobiography that contains bone-chilling admissions about Verity's past and the deaths of her children.

As Lowen falls for Verity's husband, Jeremy, she must decide whether to reveal the truth or keep the horrifying secrets buried to protect the man she loves.

9. Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover.

Details: Starring Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers, the film is directed by Vanessa Caswill.

Release date: March 13, 2026

Plot: After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter.

Meanwhile, everyone in her daughter's life is determined to keep Kenna away. The only person who gives her a chance is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner with a secret connection to Kenna's past. Naturally, they fall in love, but their romance risks losing the trust of everyone they hold dear.

10. The Devil Wears Prada 2 by Lauren Weisberger.

Details: Starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, the anticipated sequel is directed by David Frankel.

Release date: April 30, 2026.

Plot: Based roughly on Weisberger's second book, Revenge Wears Prada, the story picks up years after Andy Sachs walked away from the prestigious Runway magazine.

Andy is now a successful editor of her own high-end bridal publication, but the ghost of Miranda Priestly still looms large over the industry. When a major corporate merger threatens to put Andy and her former rival Emily Charlton back under Miranda's control, the women must navigate a digital-first fashion landscape where the stakes (and heels) are higher than ever.

11. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood.

Details: Starring Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman.

Release date: TBC.

Plot: Third-year PhD candidate Olive Smith doesn't believe in lasting romantic relationships, but her best friend does. To prove she's moved on from an ex, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees — who happens to be Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor and notorious jerk.

12. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

Details: Starring Ryan Gosling and the movie is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Release date: March 20, 2026.

Plot: Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission to save Earth from an extinction-level event. The only problem is, he has no memory of who he is or how to complete his mission.

Awakening on a spaceship with two dead crewmates, he must use science to survive. Soon, he discovers he isn't alone in the depths of space, leading to an incredible partnership with an unexpected, non-human ally.

13. Narnia: The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis.

Details: Starring Emma Mackey and Daniel Craig, the Netflix film is directed by Greta Gerwig.

Release date: November 26, 2026.

Plot: Before the wardrobe, there were the rings. Digory Kirke and his friend Polly Plummer are tricked into a journey between worlds by Digory's eccentric, magical uncle.

They discover the dying world of Charn and accidentally awaken the powerful Queen Jadis. Their journey eventually leads them to a dark, empty void where they witness the creation of Narnia by the Great Lion, Aslan.

14. Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell.

Details: This Prime Video series stars Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Release date: March 11, 2026.

Plot: Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a world-class forensic pathologist, returns to Virginia to resume her role as Chief Medical Examiner. She is immediately plunged into a series of gruesome, high-tech murders that seem linked to a case from her past.

As she utilises cutting-edge forensic science to track a serial killer, Kay must also navigate her fraught relationship with her sister, Dorothy, and her tech-savvy niece, Lucy, all while uncovering a government conspiracy.

15. Remain by Nicholas Sparks in collaboration with M. Night Shyamalan.

Details: Starring Ashley Walters and Julie Hagerty, this series is directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

Plot: Tate Donovan moves to Cape Cod for a fresh start after a personal tragedy, only to realise he has inherited a family gift: the ability to see the spirits of the dead.

He soon meets Wren, a mysterious young woman who seems to be running from a dark past. As Tate falls for her, he discovers that Wren is being hunted by something not entirely human.

16. Margo's Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe.

Details: Starring Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman, and Michelle Pfeiffer, the Apple TV+ series is directed by Dearbhla Walsh.

Plot: Margo Millet is a twenty-year-old college student who finds herself pregnant after an affair with her English professor.

17. Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt.

Details: Starring Sally Field and Lewis Pullman, the film is directed by Olivia Newman.

Release date: TBC.

Plot: Tova Sullivan works the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, finding solace in her work after the disappearance of her son thirty years ago.

Details: The Prime Video series stars Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli.

Plot: Hannah Wells is a music major who has a crush, but she needs a way to get the guy's attention. Garrett Graham is the captain of the university hockey team and needs to pass a difficult class to keep his spot on the team.

They make a deal: she'll tutor him, and he'll pretend to date her to make her crush jealous. However, one night of unexpected passion turns this arrangement into something much steamier and more complicated.

19. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.

Details: Starring Sam Claflin and Jeremy Irons, the TV series is directed by Bille August.

Release date: August 2, 2026.

Plot: On his wedding day, Edmond Dantès is falsely accused of treason and imprisoned in the desolate Château d'If.

After years of suffering, he escapes with the help of a fellow prisoner who reveals the location of a vast treasure.

Reappearing in Paris years later as the fabulously wealthy Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond begins a cold, calculated plan to destroy the three men who betrayed him, only to realise that vengeance doesn't always taste that sweet.

20. Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen.

Details: Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, George MacKay and Esmé Creed-Miles, the film is directed by Georgia Oakley.

Release date: September 11, 2026.

Plot: Following the death of their father, the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, are left financially vulnerable and forced to move to a modest cottage in Devonshire.

It's here that Elinor, representing 'sense', is left heartbroken over Edward Ferrars but hides her pain, while the romantic Marianne, representing 'sensibility', falls passionately for the dashing but unreliable Willoughby.

21. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen.

Details: Starring Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden, the Netflix series is written by Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn.

Release date: Late 2026.

Plot: In this vibrant, six-part adaptation, the arrival of the wealthy Mr. Bingley and his brooding friend Mr. Darcy throws the Bennet household into chaos.

The witty Elizabeth Bennet is immediately repelled by Darcy's perceived arrogance, while Darcy finds himself increasingly captivated by Elizabeth's sharp mind, but he is put off by her family's status.

Against a backdrop of scandalous elopements and social blunders, the two must overcome their own prejudices and pride to realise how they feel about each other.

22. The Bodyguard by Katherine Center.

Details: Starring Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki, the movie is directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum.

Release date: TBC.

Plot: Hannah Brooks is an executive protection agent who looks more like a kindergarten teacher than a bodyguard. She is hired to protect Jack Stapleton, a world-famous heartthrob actor who is being stalked by an overzealous fan.

To keep his family from worrying, Jack insists Hannah pretend to be his girlfriend while he visits his sick mother in Texas. As the fake dating becomes all too real, Hannah must protect her heart while trying to literally protect his life.
