A California mother who disappeared while on a jog 22 days ago has been found alive roughly 240km from where she vanished.
Local police have reported that Sherri Papini managed to flag down a passing motorist after being bound with restraints and dumped on the side of the road by her “captor or captors”, Fox News reports.
Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko told a press conference that the mother of two has been reunited with her family and is currently being treated in hospital for unspecified injuries.
She is also being interviewed by police, who are currently looking for “a dark-coloured SUV with two Hispanic females armed with a handgun”.
“Detectives will not rest until her captor or captors are identified and brought to justice,” said Bosenko, according to Fox.
The 34-year-old California woman had not been seen since she went for a run near her home in the suburb of Mountain Gate on November 2.
Her husband, Kieth Papini, reported her missing after he arrived home and discovered she had failed to collect their two young children, aged two and four, from day care.
Police are still working to determine what occurred in the days since.
