Millie Bobby Brown just became a mum. What she shared about motherhood is beautifully raw.

Millie Bobby Brown and husband Jacob 'Jake' Bongiovi have shared exciting personal news — their family is expanding.

In a statement on Instagram yesterday, the 21-year-old Stranger Things star said she and her 23-year-old husband had started a family of their own, welcoming a baby girl via adoption.

"This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption," they wrote.

"We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.

"And then there were three."

This next step in the young couple's relationship is something Millie flagged on the SmartLess podcast in March.

The actress gave a raw and honest reason about why she was looking forward to parenthood.

She wanted to follow in the footsteps of her own mum, Kelly Brown, who welcomed a child at the same age.

"My mum actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. And, you know, it's been my thing since before I met Jake," Millie said.

"Since I was a baby, I told my mum, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mum just like the way my mum was to me."

The 21-year-old went on to say that she still wants to establish herself as an actor and producer, but finds it "so important to start a family for [her] personally".

"It's a huge thing. Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married. So that was his thing."

And this won't be their only child. According to Millie, the couple wants to have a big family.

"I'm one of four. [Jake's] one of four. So, it is definitely in our future, but, for me, I don't see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting.

That same month, Millie also spoke about potentially shaving off her hair after becoming a mum.

"I always tell Jake, for my first baby, I wanna shave my hair off," she said on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

The 21-year-old famously shaved her head when she was 11 years old for her iconic role as Eleven in Stranger Things.

"I just think hair is such an ordeal anyway to deal with," Millie continued, saying she would simply want to "nurture" her baby.

She went on to say she thinks it would feel "liberating" and would encourage "any girl" to do the same.

Although the pair haven't publicly revealed the name of their baby there has been new speculation about the baby's initials after the family of three were spotted on an outing.

In photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Millie's phone case displayed the letters 'RWB', leading many to believe it was a nod to her baby's name. This, however, hasn't been confirmed.

Given her prolific dedication to rescuing animals, Millie's decision to adopt may not be such a surprise.

The actor has rescued and personally cared for as many as 62 animals on her property, which includes 25 farm animals, 23 foster dogs, 10 personal dogs, and four cats. She's spoken openly about her passion for animal rescue.

Among her pets is a Great Dane named 'Barbie' and a blind dachshund named 'Rigby', whom she adopted thinking he hadn't had long to live, and she wanted to give him a comfortable goodbye.

However, Rigby is now thriving with the family, having mapped out the home by memory, he is able to navigate himself.

"I feel like he's becoming unblind. He starts to look around and he knows where the food is… He's getting really good," she said.

But her work runs deeper, Millie has reportedly rescued over 230 dogs in total, often scanning for microchips to reunite lost pets with owners, and rescuing those that are abandoned. Her efforts include fostering, sheltering, and sometimes medical care and rehabilitation for sick or mistreated animals.

Millie and Jake secretly married at a private ceremony attended only by close friends and family in Tuscany, Italy in 2024. The bride sported four different outfits for the grand day at the gorgeous Villa Cetinale.

After publicly dating since 2021, the couple announced their engagement in 2023 on Instagram — a fitting place considering it's where their relationship began.

The announcement paired with the picture were lyrics from Taylor Swift's iconic hit 'Lover', with Millie writing: "I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want 'em all."

Jake then shared the news on his Instagram as well, captioning it: "Forever."

Jake is the son of rock star Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley. His parents have been together for more than four decades.

Jake is Hurley and Bon Jovi's third child.

In 2018, Jake made headlines for helping organise his school's rally on gun violence. The national student walkout was in reaction to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas mass shooting on February 14, 2018.

"It's enough. It's happened too many times that we watch it," Jake said at the time to nj.com. "And we cannot let it go away this time."

Most recently, Jake was a student at Syracuse University in New York. And he's now working towards a career in modelling and acting.

In June 2021, Jake began posting photos with Millie on Instagram. It wasn't until November 2021 that Millie confirmed the relationship, posting a photo of the two of them kissing one another during a ride on the London Eye Ferris Wheel.

Ever since, they've attended a fair few red carpet events together, including the British Academy Film Awards in 2022 and the premiere of the latest season of Stranger Things.

Jake also appears to be good friends with Millie's Stranger Things co-star and real-life bestie, Noah Schnapp.

As for how it all began, Millie said in an interview: "We met on Instagram, and we were friends for a bit, and then, what can I say?"

Millie earlier described Jake as her "partner for life" and he wrote about her in return, saying: "The girl of my dreams. I love you more than words can describe. Everything about you is golden down to the core."
