Boys and girls, it’s a Christmas miracle – Melania Trump is sharing selfies again!
Yes, for the first time in over a year, the First Lady of the United States has dusted off her front-facing camera, pursed her lips and hit the shutter button, and she did it all just to wish us ‘happy non-denominational holidays’.
Wait… sorry, no. Just ‘Merry Christmas’. Definitely just Merry Christmas.
The snap was shared to social media from the Trump’s Mar-a-Lago retreat in Florida, where the 47-year-old Slovenian born woman spent Christmas with her former reality TV star husband, Donald, and presumably also their 11-year-old son Barron. (Maybe.)
So festive is Mrs Trump, that she chose a Santa filter, featuring a red, pom pom-tipped hat and golden reindeer.
But alas, it seems that not everyone is feeling as jolly as she.
In what will no doubt come as a massive shock (I hope you’re sitting down), there’s been absolute outrage on Twitter.
Most critics seem unhappy that Mrs Trump wasn’t sticking to the FLOTUS script – you know, philanthropy, functions and fashion.
LISTEN: What about the rest of the Trump clan? Why haven’t we heard form Jared, Ivanka, and Donald Jr. in a while? Mia Freedman and Amelia Lester deep dive.
As the President himself said on the campaign trail last year, his wife would be a “fabulous First Lady” because she’s “beautiful, elegant, and good from the heart”. And sure, a Santa Claus-themed selfie doesn’t exactly slot neatly into any of those boxes.
