The trick the young royals use to stop paparazzi from getting the perfect photo.

The royals are some of the most photographed people in the world, with every event guaranteeing dozens if not hundreds of photographers scrambling to get a photo.

But despite their relaxed nature, and ability to handle the press, according to a recent Vanity Fair profile of Prince Charles, the younger generation of royals are much more considered when it comes to their media presence.

Vanity Fair spoke to photographers who said Prince William and Duchess Catherine will “go out of their way not to look at the ‘fixed point’ where photographers gather,” with one source labelling them as “‘control freaks’ about their coverage”.

And they have a point…

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seems to have utilised this trick as well.

Given to what happened to their mother, Princess Diana, this doesn't come as a surprise.

The 36-year-old was said to be escaping the paparazzi when she died in a car accident on August 31, 1997. Both Prince William and Prince Harry have also vilified the press for 'hounding' their late-mother throughout her life, with Prince William describing her struggles with the press in the BBC documentary Diana, 7 Days.

“We'd go looking for her to talk to, play, to do whatever, she'd be crying. And when that was the case it was to do with press," he said.

“About every single time she went out there'd be a pack of people waiting for her.

“And I mean a pack, like a pack of dogs, followed her, chased her, harassed her, called her names, spat at her, tried to get a reaction to get that photograph of her lashing out, get her upset.”

The press also shared the royal they find to be the most pleasant to photograph and their answer was surprising. Although they said Charles is "far more relaxed” than his children, it was his wife Duchess Camilla that won their hearts.

“We think the world of her, we adore her. She’s an amazing woman,” says Sun photographer Arthur Edwards.

“She always shows up with a great smile and is never, ever, grumpy.”

And he wasn't the only one.

“She’s my favourite royal, by a country mile,” said another correspondent.

“She knows all our names, she fosters a sense that we’re all in this together. She always gives you a little gleam in her eye and will find a moment to look at our cameras,” added another.
