While the royal wedding dominates news headlines, with speculation as to who and who isn’t invited saturating our discourse (no, Samantha, not you), it’s slowly becoming time for the big questions:

Who is designing the dress? Who are her bridesmaids? Oh, and should Australia become a republic? Joking – we have weddings, not politics, to be consumed by.

Anywho, it’s widely tipped that a woman by the name Lindsay Roth may be Markle’s maid of honour.

So, who is she?

Roth is a 36-year-old author who met the future princess in a literature class during their freshman year at Northwestern University. They have been friends for over 15 years.

Roth, who started her career as a radio producer, is a published author, having penned What Pretty Girls Are Made Of in 2015. Mail Online report Markle was Roth’s maid of honour two years ago when she married in Greece.

In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine last year, Roth shared some intimate details about her friendship with Markle.

“I don’t know many people who are as generous and supportive as Meg is,” she said.

“I think people assume that when someone gains notoriety that they change. But she’s still the same girl I met years ago, with the same values and priorities. She’s selfless, and that’s just a part of who she is and who she was raised to be.”

She added that even when the two are separated by distance, the nature of their relationship doesn’t change:

“We’re the kind of friends who can be 3,000 miles away and still be talking about or thinking the same thing, and even texting each other the same thing at the same time miles away.

“While the public sees Meg as a strong advocate for women and girls, she is one behind the scenes too — she’s that friend who staunchly supports her friends’ dreams, is present even when she’s physically not present because she’s in Toronto filming, gives you her honest opinion even if it differs from yours and has the most kind heart,” she continues. “I have years worth of hand-written notes and cards that Meg has sent to me in the best of times, while I was going through hard times and also fun, saying hello, missing-you, motivational go-for-your-dreams cards.”

So will she be leading Markle down the aisle? We shall see.
