Meghan Markle writes a letter every night. They won't be opened for years.

In a heartwarming glimpse into her parenting journey, Meghan Markle has revealed one of her most cherished daily rituals — writing nightly letters to her children, Archie and Lilibet.

No, she's not getting out the monogrammed stationary and a fountain pen.

She's emailing them.

At email addresses they don't yet know exist.

The Duchess of Sussex recently shared that she has created a digital time capsule for her children, crafting personal messages that capture moments of their growth, her love, and her pride in watching them develop.

"I thought it was such a great time capsule to create for them, and so I created for the kids these email addresses that I will give them at some point," Meghan told The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, offering a rare insight into her private life as a mother.

She says she hopes these 'digital love letters' will serve as a chronicle of their childhood moments that might otherwise be forgotten — the small triumphs, everyday joys, and milestones that make up a life.

Yet, for Meghan, they represent something deeper than the mere recording of events.

"Here's everything and every moment that I wanted to tell you how much I love you and how proud I am of you — and it's making me emotional," she said, her voice catching as she described the project.

As she spoke, Meghan broke down, wiping away tears as she spoke about her children.

"I wasn't expecting that one... This is why it's nice to have no makeup on," she added with characteristic candour.

It's important to acknowledge that many working parents barely have time to cook dinner and get their shut eye, so writing heart-felt emails every day is a luxury.

All the same, it's a very adorable gesture. The sentiment behind Meghan's digital time capsule resonates with many who struggle to preserve memories in our fast-paced world.

She explained, "It's for them to be able to look back and go, 'gosh, she has loved us so much'. And that is I think the best part about being a mum.

"It's not about the grandeur of the gesture, it's about I see you, I'm nurturing you and I see you so deeply. And I'm just so proud of them."

Beyond her relationship with her children, Meghan also opened up about her romance with Prince Harry, which appears to have entered a new chapter of contentment after years in the spotlight.

"H, that man loves me so much and you know, look what we've built," she shared warmly. "We have built a beautiful life and we have two healthy beautiful children."

In a playful moment, Meghan compared their relationship to the classic video game Super Mario Bros., casting Harry as the hero of their family story.

"I always think about it, when you get the end of Super Mario Bros, the final level and what's the goal in Super Mario. It's to slay the dragons and save the princess. And that's my husband, he just out there and constantly doing whatever he can to make sure our family is safe and protected and that we are uplifted — and still make time for date nights."

Throughout the interview, Meghan also referred to Harry as "a fox", calling him "very handsome". She also said that despite the struggles they've been through, they're entering a new kind of 'honeymoon' phase.

"You have to imagine, at the beginning it's all butterflies — but then we immediately went into the trenches together," she explained.

"Right out of the gate, like six months into dating.

"So now seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way. And that's why I feel like it's more of a honeymoon period for us now."

Perhaps that may quiet down the speculation about the health of their marriage? Time will tell.
