She loves fries.

For the profile, Meghan and the journalist, Kaitlyn Greenidge, sat down at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel (casually). The Sussexes' chief communications officer acted as a buffer between them.

Meghan ordered a vegetable bowl with tofu, while the others opted for a burger and fries.

But when the waiter came to collect the fries, Meghan asked him to leave them behind.

Not a single chip left behind? Again, relatable.

She was a nerd growing up.

The 44-year-old embraced having a Type A personality, both in childhood and now.

"I was such a little nerd," she said. "My entire identity was wrapped up in being the smart one.

"I had the personality type of 'I can help coordinate, I can help organise, and I can facilitate.' I think I'm probably the same now."

She is a loyal friend.

For the profile, Meghan's closest friends also shared their memories with the royal.

After falling out of touch with a friend from her 20s, named Kelly Zajfen, Meghan reached back out in 2022 after learning that Zajfen's nine-year-old son had passed away from COVID and viral meningitis.

"The second I heard her voice, it felt like I was right back with her," Zajfen told the publication. "There's not a day that goes by that she hasn't checked in or I haven't checked in.

"Someone can show up in a time of need or grief. And oftentimes they don't stay or they're only here for a short amount of time. But Meghan just always made herself available to all of us."

She loves working from home.

While some parents find it hard to concentrate when their kids interrupt their workday, Meghan thrives on it.

"My office is right by the kitchen, and I love that I can work from home," she said. "It's a great luxury."

Meghan added that her four-year-old daughter, Lilibet, will occasionally sit on her lap "in the middle of a meeting, whether it's about P and L [profit and loss] or it's about something creative."

She is consistent.

Whether it be her work or personal life, Meghan said she approaches each occasion with the same level of commitment.

"When people start to see your work ethic and really understand how dedicated you are to things, how you are in one place, I believe, is how you are in other places," she said.

"So for me, that's how I show up when I do potlucks at my kids' school, that's how I show up when putting a party together for my friend who just had a baby, that's how I show up in my business."

She doesn't believe in perfectionism.

Meghan believes in learning from mistakes, and wants her kids to do the same.

"I'm a mum with kids at that age where they are constantly learning something new," she said.

"I watch them face things that feel completely insurmountable every day. But you can remember and say, 'I know it seems really hard right now, but trust me, that's going to come so easily soon.' I can give myself the same grace as a founder. There's no such thing as perfect. I, too, get to make mistakes."

The Duchess of Sussex added that there is "not a lot of fun in trying to be perfect."

"So why try to do that if you want to have fun?"

She loves a Mimosa.

Speaking of fun, it turns out Meghan loves a boozy brunch with the girls.

Her good friend Serena Williams told the publication that she and Meghan "love a good Mimosa."

"We could talk for a hundred hours, and it feels like 10 minutes go by, and it's like we never stop smiling," said the tennis legend.

Her friends think she's funny.

Both Williams and Zajfen also raved about Meghan's sense of humour.

"She's funny. I think maybe that's surprising to people," said Zajfen, while Williams added that the royal has the same "dry sense of humour" that she does.

"I think that's why we hit it off for no reason at this silly football thing. We were just like, 'Why are we here? To meet you?' Apparently, and we've been lifelong friends ever since."

She wants her kids to be brave.

Along with Lilibet, Meghan hopes Archie, six, grows up to "see the value of being brave."

"They saw it when the jam was just a pot on the stove, bubbling," she said.

"When you're young, I think you are a little bit more fearless. As we get older, we lose some of that."

She takes photos of her food.

During the meal, a waiter approached the table with a complimentary cappuccino. The restaurant had printed a photo-realistic image of Meghan on the foam, and the duchess was delighted.

"I recognise this picture," she said, smiling at the beverage. "That's from our trip to South Africa," referring to her and Prince Harry's 2019 tour.

Amused, Meghan took a photo of the coffee.

She comes with an announcement.

A week after the journalist met Meghan for lunch, she met up with the 44-year-old in the home of one of her friends.

As she arrived, she was met with a surprising greeting.

"When I enter, the house manager announces, 'Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,' even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house," the journalist wrote.

She knows Prince Harry will always have her back.

Meghan said "no one in the world" loves her more than her husband, Prince Harry.

"He loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldn't," she said.

"I know he's always going to make sure that he has my back."

She went on to say that she was "drawn" to the prince's "childlike wonder and playfulness."

"He brought that out in me," Meghan said. "That's translated into every part of our life."
