There are two kinds of people: the kind that live to squeeze pimples and the kind that find this obsession utterly repulsive.

If you’re in the first group, you’ll love this video. In camp two? You probably won’t be able to look away either.

A YouTube clip posted by Dr Guru S2 depicting sebum swirling out of multiple blackheads on someone’s nose is gaining serious traction, clocking up almost 500,000 views in a matter of days. The unidentified patient is seen having their nose gently squeezed from a number of angles, unleashing ribbons of white-yellow gunk out of their pores and onto their face.

How delightful.

If you’re a fan of Dr Pimple Popper videos, consider this a one on steroids, albeit with disconcertingly soothing background music.

We wanted to stop watching, we truly did, but we can’t.

However, that doesn’t mean you should start doing the same to your own nose any time soon.

The Daily Mail reports that the filmed extractions were not done by a qualified dermatologist, meaning it’s not necessarily a technique condoned by experts. Translation: Don’t try this at home.

However the biggest concern is ensuring that the blackheads that you think you're treating are actually blackheads.

The pimples in the video look closer to white heads, which occur when sebum under the skin gets blocked by excess oil and dead skin cells causing trapped bacteria to grow underneath, giving the appearance of a white bubble of pus. If the pore gets larger and air and dirt gets in, it looks darker and becomes a blackhead.

But while it can be tempting to squeeze as soon as it becomes visible, sometimes your whiteheads are actually just blocked pores also known as sebaceous filaments.

According to dermatologist Dr Michael Freeman, this misidentification is actually a common mistake many people make with their skin.(Post continues after gallery.)

"The key difference is that blackheads are an abnormal structure, while sebaceous filaments which you see in your pores are normal structures," he previously told The Glow.

"Pores can have secretions in them, which is the stuff you see emerge on your pore mask when you rip it off. Those filaments are normally inside the skin and come out in a conveyor belt structure, so they come out slowly."

So watch all you want, but maybe be a bit more cautious when it comes to trying it out on yourself at home.
