Pools full of Moet, private jets - meet the Rich Kids of Instagram

Most social media users are guilty of showing off from time to time. Whether it's a fancy meal, a cool new pair of shoes or the ocean view during a seaside holiday, sharing a photo on Instagram seems only natural in those moments when life looks particularly good.

But what if you were so wealthy and time-rich that even the most mundane moments of your life were luxurious?

The Rich Kids of Instagram' are well-versed in this opulence. They're young and carefree, with more money than most of us will ever dream of owning - and they love nothing more than letting everyone on the Internet know just how good they've got it. [Scroll down to see the images in all their appalling glory]

Style? Check. Humility? Um... not so much.

The 'Rich Kids of Instagram' tumblr became an instant hit when it was launched last year. Under the tagline 'They have more money than you and this is what they do', the website collates the flashy (and jaw-droppingly obnoxious) photos shared by wealthy young Instagram users. Theirs is a world filled with designer clothes, champagne showers for dogs, private jets and pet lions; and a world in which deciding which Aston Martin to drive for the day is considered a conundrum.

Although some of the kids have since removed their photos or requested their deletion from the website, others are gluttons for attention, using hashtags like #wealth and #rkoi (the website's initials) to make sure their shots are included.

Some take every opportunity to rub their wealth in the internet's collective face. "Our everyday is better than your best day. #rkoi", writes one user (and simultaneously makes everybody feel like punching their computer screen).

As if having an entire website dedicated to their lives isn't validation enough, a group of the rich kids are reportedly set to star in their own reality show; or, more specifically, "a new unscripted series that revolves around a group of 20-something friends living in a world of extreme wealth who caught notice on Instagram."

All together now: ugh. There are brilliant TV shows receiving no air time, and this is what producers are choosing to focus their efforts on?

Perhaps the saddest part is that the show is almost guaranteed to be a hit. After all, reality programs focused on rich folk always - inexplicably - seem to find an audience (eg. Made in Chelsea).
