Scathing obituary written for mother who "will not be missed".

A scathing obituary for a great-grandmother that says she “will not be missed” has gone viral, with members of her family left devastated after no-one has forward to claim it as their own.

82-year-old Cornelia June Rogers Miller from Florida died in February, leaving behind a husband, three children, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Four months later, the obituary surfaced in a North Carolina newspaper, arguing Miller’s life should act as a “cautionary tale” and that her family “wish[ed] she could have appreciated the abundance of life she was given”.

“Please let June Miller’s life be a cautionary tale. Addiction and hatred are no es bueno for the living. We speak for the majority of her family when we say her presence will not be missed by many, very few tears will be shed, and there will be no lamenting over her passing,” the obituary read.

It went on to say the family will only miss “what they never had”, and that Ms Miller “rarely shared a kind word or deed”.

“But we truly believe at the end of the day all of us will really only miss what we never had – a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

“We hope she is finally at peace.

“There will be no service, no prayers and no closure for the family she spent a lifetime tearing apart.”

In a strange twist, the piece, which ends with “Goodbye, Mom”, is believed to have been plagiarized from a 2008 obituary which ran in the Vallejo Times Herald in California.

Miller’s son, Robert Miller Jr told News Channel 9 the family were in the process of uncovering who wrote the obituary, suggesting it may have been one of his sisters.

“It’s unbelievable that someone would write this. She was a loving generous woman,” he said.
