One of the most fawned over Hollywood bachelors admits he didn’t want to get married.
Mathew McConaughey, 44, was one of Hollywood’s well-known Bachelors. And despite having children with a beautiful women, he didn’t seem like he was going to say “I do” anytime soon.
Which is true. In a recent interview with GQ magazine he said, “I had to get to the point where I saw [marriage] as more than just the thing to do.”
Despite already having two children together, Brazilian model and designer Camila Alves, 32, still had to convince Matthew marriage was the way to go. And in 2012, the pair exchanged vows at their Austin property.
The impossibly-picture-perfect couple met in 2006 at Los Angeles club, Hyde. Prior to their meeting, Matthew had earned himself a solid reputation as a ladies man with a string of high-profile relationships with such actress as Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd and Penelope Cruz.
The Dallas Buyer Club actor admitted that it took a while to say ‘I do’ to Camila.
“Some of it had to do with her putting it on me. It took her going, 'C’mon, Big Boy, Mr. Easygoing-We’ll- Get-to-It-When-We-Get-to-It. Either sh** or get off the pot.'"
“I wanted to really want to. You know, I didn’t want it to be a destination; the fun is that we’re on the adventure together.”
As it turned out, marrying Camila is the best decision of his life. Not only is Matthew grateful for his wife pushing him toward married life, he loves being a father to his three children Livingston, 2, Vida, 4, and Levi, 6.

“You know what’s important. I definitely got more selfish. And at the same time, I think I got more compassionate.”
