Married at First Sight's Christie: "I just wanted to get off that boat."

After watching last night’s episode of Married at First Sight, we are sucked in all over again.

But we have questions. Lots of them. And who better to turn to than someone who is actually on the show?

This week, on The Binge, Rosie Waterland and Monique Bowley do just that – they picked up the phone to chat to Christie. We don’t know her surname, because in reality TV, everyone’s a one-name wonder. But Christie is a Maltese 39-year-old DJ, who was matched with a guy named Mark.

We asked Christie if she still was still with Mark. You’ll have to listen to hear how she handled that one, but she did share with us just why she was so very, very wobbly on that boat.

As soon as she got on, she wanted out.

"I was sick, I was so sick. You don't even understand."

"I get there, I see the boat, and I started to freak out a little bit....I said to my producer, 'You can't keep me down here for much longer, I'm not very good on boats.'

"I just wanted to get off that boat. There was one point where I nearly just said, 'Just get me off here,' but I'm a person that can't let people down, and just seeing the effort that everyone [put into it], I just had to pull through. I was a walking disaster. The only day they give me a makeup artist, she got sick and they had to pull her off the boat, so I have no one to fix my face."

"I was on the boat from about 3.30 and we didn't get off until 12.30am" Christie explains.

So, it's a given that if she had a say in the ceremony, it probably wouldn't have been on a boat.

But, as she tells The Binge, she didn't. Not even with the dress.

She says that she could make requests - but if another bride wanted a similar thing - it just couldn't happen. Who would watch four wedding exactly the same? The weddings have to look different. This is reality TV, people.

But, overall, despite the seasickness disaster, and the fact that her makeup artist had to get off the boat, she says she was really happy.

"It wasn't about the wedding day for me. For me, it was about the person I'm about to meet,"

"I remember looking at him, and going, okay he's not my type, but I took a deep breath and said, 'You're not here for that,', because I really, really wanna meet someone. I really am ready. And then when I was next to him, and he held my hand, I did feel calmness." Christie says.

Which brings us to another question we have been burning to ask couples on the show - we know they go through a lot of psychological tests before appearing on it - but how much psychological help do they get once they are actually there?

Fortunately for us, Christie has answers.

"From the day onwards, we had no contact with the experts, which would have been nice...because I have heard that the American show do do that, the experts visit them once a week....I think that is something they should introduce, that would help, you know, maybe, my situation...and I know it would have helped some of the other couples for sure as well," she explains.

We do have one other question unanswered...did they purposefully put her on that boat because they knew she had sea sickness?

That mystery remains (for now) unsolved...
