Wait, this MAFS bride dated one of last year's most controversial grooms.

Well, well, well... what do we have here? Just when we thought Married At First Sight 2025 couldn't get any more dramatic, there's a juicy connection between this year's bride, Lauren Hall, and a rather familiar face from last season. 

Plot twist: Before Lauren walked down the aisle to meet Eliot Donovan (aka the groom who's already causing controversy for his "traditional" views), she had a thing with none other than Jono McCullough. You know, the guy who ended up in a couple-swap scenario in 2024.

According to The Daily Mail, Lauren Hall and Jono were dating for around three months before breaking things off in January 2023. During his season of MAFS, Jono was famously paired with Lauren Dunn, before moving on with Ellie Dix, who he is currently still with. 

For those playing catch-up at home, Lauren is our self-proclaimed 'born in the wrong era' bride who believes her "role is to serve her husband". Her words, not mine. She really loves the 1920s and 1950s, apparently.

She's been matched with Eliot, who, spoiler alert, has already made headlines for some pretty questionable comments about age — including calling his 37-year-old bride 'too old' despite being 35 himself. Make it make sense.

Lauren's past with Jono has become the talk of the MAFS universe and, according to the Daily Mail, an inside source revealed producers were well aware of Lauren's connection to Jono prior to casting her in the new season, hoping to "quietly sweep it under the rug." But it looks like the cat is out of the bag.

While we don't have too many details about how they met or why Jono and Lauren broke up in the end, we're hoping more details will emerge as the show progresses. Perhaps in a dramatic dinner party moment?

And while Jono has moved on with his life now, Lauren's current match with Eliot is... let's say, interesting.

While they seemed perfect on paper — both wanting that "traditional" marriage dynamic — things haven't exactly gone according to plan i.e. Eliot point blank saying he doesn't think they're a match.

"Things on my non-negotiables aren't lining up," he said in the most recent episode.

But look, we've seen enough MAFS to know this is just the beginning and things can change at any moment. With shock first meetings and all this pre-existing drama, this season is already serving up exactly what we tune in for – pure, unfiltered chaos.
