The MAFS news we were all waiting for has finally been confirmed.

Married At First Sight Australia is simultaneously the worst thing to ever grace our television screens and also a sensational talking point we simply can't get enough of.

Every time I hit 'publish' on another MAFS piece, I prepare myself for an onslaught of comments complaining about the contents and calling the show trash. HOWEVER, I know you're all waiting with bated breath for the next update. And this one is good.

Jamie Marinos, she of blonde hair and beloved one-liners, was the true stand-out this season. Her romance with Dave Hand had all the makings of a true MAFS love story. Some Jules and Cam type of stuff!

But then, suddenly, he went cold.

And I mean very, very cold. Australia turned on Dave as the second half of the season dropped, showcasing Jamie's emotional rollercoaster as she dealt with the fallout of his lost feelings. And no one had Jamie's back through it all like her co-star, Eliot Donovan.

Throughout the season, Eliot was seen posting increasingly ridiculous and sarcastic content aimed at his fellow contestants. In particular, he went all guns blazing after Dave — much to the delight of fans. And in the weeks that followed the finale, his constant posting with Jamie left fans with one question on their mind.

Wait, are Jamie and Eliot a couple?

At first, it seemed like they were simply posting silly skits as a 'f**k you' to Dave. But as Eliot jokes about 'his girl' and the pair are seen enjoying 'dates' at the likes of Movie World and travelling around Australia… things are getting confusing.

Are we in a rom-com? Is this the 'love story' Taylor Swift promised us? Or is this one of those classic fake-dating tropes we all know and love from the movies (which would actually be quite iconic)?

According to Jamie, this is certainly not a fake-dating stunt.

"I hang out heaps with Eliot. He's become a very good, very close person to my life so I'm really appreciative of Eliot," she's explained in a new interview with Channel Nine.

"I understand everyone wants an answer but we're in the real world now, so it's not like we're going to be official or announce something tomorrow," she continued, with a very valid point.

"I'm enjoying getting to know Eliot, I'm getting to know different people I'm just being open."

"But for me, the important thing is that it's not a publicity stunt, we just genuinely enjoy being around each other."

Jamie continued on to explain their friendship, saying he'd been an amazing support for the past month as her heartache played out on screens. And that now, it's blossoming into more.

"We only started hanging around each other since we both left our marriages, just over a month ago. He's always been a very good friend to me, but he's been a really amazing support system.

"We have so much fun together, getting to know each other, and making Tiktoks are always so much fun.

There you have it, the rumour we hoped to be true is in fact very real. Kind of! There's certainly more going on here than classic #friendship, and I for one am loving it.

Jamie has also confirmed she's "no-contact" with Dave, who is… handling things, like, super well.

And of course, by that, I mean he's posting shady TikTok videos and making comments about Jamie's sexual past. At his big age? Ok.

As for the rest of the cast, Eliot and Jamie have at least one pal in their corner: Carina Mirabile.

"I think [Jamie and Eliot] suit each other. The only thing is, they're in different states, so they've got to sort that out. But I think they look absolutely incredible together," she previously told Chattr.

"They would make a good match."

And you know what, Carina? I agree. Let's make magic happen people!
