Sorry divas, we haven't seen the last of Eliot on MAFS.

The first few episodes of Married At First Sight Australia have landed, introducing us to a plethora of quirky and downright unhinged characters in the process.

The early standouts of MAFS 2025 appear to be Eliot Donovan and Lauren Hall, who can't wait to be trapped in a 1950s doom of their own making.

In the slightly altered words of Avril Lavigne, he was a boy who wanted a trad-wife from the 1950s, and she was a girl who wanted to be a trad-wife in the 1950s. What more can I say? It seemed so obvious that this dollar-store Tom Cruise and sassy wife-in-the-making would be a perfect match.

I'm kidding, they were destined to fail.

Because, despite their so-called similar values, these two people were never going to work in the real world. And Eliot came to that conclusion after just one day.

As they enjoyed dinner on their honeymoon, a heated exchange led to Eliot declaring "it's done" and calling time on the relationship. One conversation, and off he skedaddled as a dumbfounded Lauren told producers she couldn't believe how easily he'd given up.

She was robbed, damn it! But the story ain't over for Lauren. Or Eliot. Stop reading now if you want to avoid spoilers.

Jilted by her husband on their very first day of their honeymoon, Lauren was understandably left hurt (and I'm hoping, reconsidering the whole 1950s thing).

But don't fret, the drama is sure to continue as both Eliot and Lauren re-enter the experiment. Oh, John Aiken, you sneaky thing!

As reported by The Daily Mail in September, Lauren is re-matched with professional golfer Clint Rice. She's allegedly smitten with her second husband, so good news for Lozza in this regard!

Meanwhile, Eliot allegedly re-enters to finish off his business with Lauren and the rest of the cast. Oh, and The Daily Mail reports he also received his own second-chance with former Miss Universe, Veronica Cloherty.

The wine better be ready for their first dinner party reunion.

We also caught up with Eliot earlier this week for a chat, and he offered up an explanation for his dramatic exit.

"Look, the biggest criticism I think people have of the show is people that don't really like each other just stick around. To try to get the exposure and milk the opportunity and that was definitely not the reason why I came on the show," he said.

"I really came on the show to find love and so [I left when] it became really obvious we wouldn't have a long-term future together."

He adds that the editing process removed some elements of their big conversation, saying they'd spoken through their values and agreed they weren't a good fit. In particular, he says their discussion revealed their family plans and values were different. He says they both wanted to leave.

"She was a bit more reluctant to just leave, she wanted to stay at least to the first commitment ceremony and then leave," he said. "I just wasn't interested in going through the motions, trying to milk that TV time, like it just… I don't know I was like 'why don't we end this early and not make it into a big deal if we know this [won't work]' and this was something that we kind of both came to an agreement on.

"It wasn't just me telling her she's not good enough, that wasn't at all what happened. It was more like we kind of spoke about it."

Eliot said he thought they were in agreement about their compatibility.

"I never meant to do it in a malicious way or try to hurt her or do anything like that. I thought we would be able to leave on good terms and be fine but obviously… you'll see how it panned out. "
