The body of a teenage boy has been recovered from the surf at Maroubra beach in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
The body has not yet been formally identified but it is believed to be that of a 14-year-old boy who disappeared in the water after a night time swim on Tuesday.
The teenager’s family has been notified.
Emergency crews were called to the beach just after 8:30pm on Tuesday after reports two teenagers were in trouble in the water.
This is the 10th drowning in NSW over the Christmas period, with one swimmer still missing at the Murrumbidgee River near Wagga Wagga.
