Shocker, Hero and Whinger of the week.

Welcome to Shocker, Hero and Whinger of the Week.

Here’s how it works: Each week, we will pick the biggest Shocker, Hero and Whinger from the last seven days. Shocker is whatever moment or person left our jaws on the floor. Hero is whoever won the week by being awesome. Whinger? Well, that’s pretty much just someone who has had a major sooky-la-la moment. Let’s do this.

Shocker of the week goes to…

Copenhagen Zoo, for killing poor, sweet, brown-eyed Marius. Just because they didn’t need his particular kind of Giraffe genes.

How could you not want those genes?

Was there really NO other option? None at all?

And why, after killing him by shooting a bolt into his brain, did you have to perform a disection in front of zoo-goers, like some kind of bizarre carnival horror house?

And now there’s word that a second zoo in Copenhagen is looking to get rid of another Giraffe, which by total coincidence is also calld Marius. Isn’t it time for Princess Mary to step in? And can’t we just leave all creatures called Marius alone?!?

Hero of the Week goes to…

Torah Bright, for winning Australia’s first medal at the Sochi Winter Olympics; a silver in the halfpipe.

WOOP WOOP!

Torah said the silver felt just as good as the gold, which was a lot more gracious that our next winner….

Whinger of the Week goes to…

Ashley Wagner, an American figure skater who stuggled to take news of her fourth-place getting score with any kind of subtlety:

She even called her  called her score ‘bullshit’ in front of the cameras:

Because sportsmanship.
