It looks like Mariah Carey and James Packer won’t be getting married anytime soon, at least if Carey’s ex-husband, Nick Cannon has anything to say about it. Cannon is reportedly refusing to sign off on their divorce, despite initiating the split back in 2014.
Cannon, the host of America’s Got Talent, and Carey have had a (seemingly) smooth separation following six years of marriage. They’ve agreed on a property settlement. They’ve arrange joint custody of their kids, five-year-old twins Moroccan and Monro.
Cannon even congratulated Carey on her recent engagement to Australian billionaire Packer. "Congrats to @MariahCarey and James! May God Bless Your Future Union... #GreatPeople #GreatCouple," he tweeted. But he still won't sign those papers.
He's not giving a reason for his hesitation, but sources have said the's still in love with the Hero singer and not ready to accept her pending marriage to the business mogul, reports TMZ. The same sources told TMZ Carey has been desperately urging Cannon to sign off for nearly a year.
Cannon, 35, has previously said that Carey, 46, will always be the "love of his life"
"It's one of those things, I'm a hopeless romantic too," Cannon told the Meredith Vieira Show in an interview last year. "Through this learning process, you never say never. To me one thing I know, that will always be the love of my life, always be my family and that's never going to change."
Carey and Packer, 48, announced their engagement in January of this year, after the philanthropist proposed with a 35-carat ring while the pair were holidaying in New York.
