When you’re six years old, visiting Santa is a big deal. So imagine Ally Warner’s surprise when her mum’s boyfriend got down on bended knee in front of the man in red and proposed to her.
Before you get all creeped out, it’s actually one of the sweetest things we’ve seen all week – Shana Warner’s boyfriend, Jeff, asked her to marry him last week and he didn’t want her daughter to feel left out, so he devised this lovely gesture to make her feel included.
Jeff got down on bended knee and presented Ally with a a ring of her own, asking if she’d be his stepdaughter.
Shana shared their story on Reddit over the weekend, posting photos from the big moment.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Shana, who lives in Michigan, USA, admitted her daughter initially didn't know how to react.
"Santa was about to let her go when Jeff got down on one knee and asked her," she recalled. "She was in awe, she thought it was amazing. At first, she was just really overwhelmed and then finally she said 'yes'.
"She was so overwhelmed with feelings and that she was given something so precious she tried giving Jeff a dollar."
The couple are now planning a wedding on the slopes of Crystal Mountain, Michigan, in March 2015.
"We're going to be skiing down the isle," Shana joked.
And by their sides will be Ally as their proud flower girl.
Are you living in a blended family? How do you make your stepkids feel included?
