Open Post: What's happening in your world?

Hi readers, welcome to Open Post.

This is the place where you get to tell us everything that’s going on in your world this week.

For those of you who haven’t been here before, Open Post is where we talk about everything that’s happened in our week.

So why don’t I start us off.

At the end of this week I’m heading off to Sri Lanka!

When I’ve mentioned in passing to people where my next adventure will be, I get one of two responses.

A) That’s… different.

B) My aunty’s, uncle’s, cousin’s step-sister (don’t try to trace that family tree, I’m sure it doesn’t add up) has been and LOVED it, but bring some Aeroguard.

The missing ingredient of most family holidays is…

As the kids in my family are growing up, and thinking about careers/university/moving out, Mum wanted to make certain we had one more big HARRAH of a family vacation. Bless her. So Sri Lanka it is, (and here we are!)

You see, the moment the clock struck 12am to signal the start of 2015, I knew that this year would be the Year Of Travel. The Year Of Seeing Beyond The Big Banana. I’m already thinking about Europe in the winter time (their summer season), and have booked flights to Melbourne to do some serious shopping. Has anyone been to Europe? I’d love your advice on some go-to places and travel tips.

“Literally no idea. Sorry.” Americans try to find European countries on a map.

I still have what can only be described as a healthy obsession with ‘doing it all.’ Travel, job opportunities, meeting new people. I want to barrel, not skip, through the coming days. Sadly, this week a close family friend and my best friend’s relative passed away suddenly of a heart attack, aged 43. With this tragedy at the forefront of my mind, I know that life doesn’t hold out for you to take your time. Often, you’ve got to grab everything you can get while you can get it. Love deep, tread far, dream endlessly. It’s really put my goals into perspective.
