US news reports on 'John' Abbott expose embarrassing geography mistakes
Television news networks across the US have made some serious mistakes about our part of the world while reporting the sighting of potential MH370 plane debris in the southern Indian Ocean. First CNN's website referred to our Prime Minister as 'John', rather than 'Tony' Abbott. Then Fox News displayed an image (left) of Australia, naming what should be the Pacific Ocean as the Coral Sea and emphasising Port Headland for no particular reason. CNN were again were caught out, claiming that Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Indonesia instead of Malaysia. In the meantime, the US navy P8 Poseidon aircraft is set to leave the states this afternoon to join the search for the two floating objects.
Boston Marathon bomb survivor dances for the first time
Adrianne Haslet-Davis was a professional dance instructor before she was seriously injured during the Boston Marathon in last year's bomb attack and lost her leg. Today, Adrianne danced for the first time at the TED2014 conference in Vancouver on her new bionic leg (right). The 33-year-old performed the dance with a partner to 'Ring My Bells" by Enrique Iglesias and has plans to perform on Dancing with the Stars.' Her leg was created by Hugh Herr, who himself is a double amputee as the result of a climbing accident. Herr delivered the TED talk before Davis danced for the first time.
Guiliana reveals 'rudest ever' celebrity
Giuliana Rancic (left), a popular TV host on E!News, has opened up about what she says was the most awkward interview she has ever done. The 39-year-old claims that in an interview with Russell Crowe, he 'was so mean to me', adding: “I had been at E! for a year, and I literally was like, ‘I’m gonna go easy because he’s pretty tough. And so I said, ‘Are you excited to be here tonight? Your big movie premiere?’ And he goes, ‘I’m contractually obligated to be here. What’s your next question?’” When Rancic then asked Crowe if he was enjoying meeting all his fans, he responded with ‘That’s your second question?’ And he goes, ‘1, 2, you’re through!'
