Madonna has nothing nice to say about her marriage to Guy Ritchie.

Let’s just be kind to one another, people.

In the seven years since Madonna‘s marriage breakdown, the Queen of Pop has remained uncharacteristically silent about her issues with former husband, Guy Ritchie.

Unlike her pal, Gwyneth Paltrow, who couldn’t wait to tell the world about her and Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin’s ‘conscious uncoupling’, Madge has kept very quiet. But now she is opening up about her marriage to the British director and the divorce that followed.

And it isn’t very nice.

“I think when you get married you have to be willing to make a lot of compromises and that’s fair enough. I think that’s the way it goes in relationships,” the Material Girl singer told British newspaper, The Sun.

“However, you know, I did find myself sometimes in a state of conflict. There were many times when I wanted to express myself as an artist in ways that I don’t think my ex-husband felt comfortable with.”

The 56-year-old didn't stop there, she proceeded to add salt to Guy Ritchie's already deep and painful wound.

"There were times when I felt incarcerated. I wasn’t really allowed to be myself. It doesn’t mean that marriage is a bad thing. But if you’re an artist you’ve got to find someone who accepts who you are and are comfortable with that."

Ouch.

The pair married in 2000, and their son, Rocco, now 14, was born the same year. During her and Ritchie's marriage, the pair adopted David, a Malawian baby boy in 2006.

Madonna has a daughter, Lourdes, now 18, from her previous relationship with Carlos Leon and after her and Ritchie's split, Madonna also adopted a Malawian girl, Mercy, in 2009.

Ritchie is now married to underwear model, Jaqui Ainsley and the couple have three children.
