Mamamia recaps Love Triangle on Stan: The 3 words that changed everything.

Another week, another episode of the Stan Original Dating Series Love Triangle. And I've got to say… things are really starting to take a turn with our first couples' party of the season.

Now, I have watched a lot of reality TV. This is not my first rodeo. I'm accustomed to cheating scandals and questionable communication skills. The clashing personalities and lack of accountability. Nothing phases me now.

However, the unrealistic and absolutely tone-deaf beauty standards that some of these men place on the women in their lives... I'll never understand.

Jordan and Payton have been off to a rocky start. Aside from the fact that Jordan has given off some seriously ick-worthy behaviour (please see superhero mask from last week) and literally does not know how to cook or grocery shop for his life, Payton has been slowly warming to him and his humour.

She's open-minded, which we love.

However, upon walking into the first couples' party, Jordan is off. He spends the entire night chatting (or flirting) with Marissa, and telling the other couples that he and Payton are "in the friend zone" (something she's definitely not aware of).

Then, with just three little words, Jordan managed to convince us all that he is undoubtedly… the worst.

During the episode, Jordan admits that he's not attracted to Payton and, instead, wants someone "small, tanned, and ethnic". Yes, you read that correctly. Mind you, he says this, not once, but twice. TWICE. Just in case the first time wasn't offensive enough, I guess?

Where do we even begin to unpack this problematic statement?

Let's start with "small," shall we? Ah yes, the shocking revelation that a man on reality TV only wants a thin woman. The fatphobia is so predictable.

The truly infuriating part? How these men hide behind coded language like "petite" or "small" because they know how it would sound if they said what they really felt. As if rejecting entire body types is just a "preference" rather than a societal prejudice that deserves a hard examination. But sure, let's keep pretending it's just a "preference" and not the backbone of an entire industry built on making women hate their bodies.

Don't even get me started on his preference for "ethnic" women. Tell me you fetishise women of colour without telling me you fetishise women of colour. Nothing says problematic preferences quite like lumping a variety of cultures into one convenient catchphrase.

The term "ethnic" (which I vote white people should retire at this point) is doing some heavy lifting here, managing to simultaneously otherise, exoticise, and homogenise billions of people from countless distinct cultures.

Well done, Jordan.

He then goes onto say some pretty heinous things about Payton.

"Would you do that?" he is heard saying off-camera.

"I'm not going to f***ing date her. It's bullshit," he said.

"Literally any other girl here I would be into."

He's done. Throw him in the bin. Be gone, Generic Man.

Thankfully, Payton does stand up for herself later in the night, when it's pointed out that he's been telling everyone they're just friends.

"I know I'm beautiful, I'm not asking you that… I don't need you to tell me that," she says to Jordan.

"You're not attracted to me and I'm okay with that. But you have been lying to yourself and me in pretending that we are going to have something further than a friendship."

Yes, girl, YES!

He bumbles his words, still lying through his teeth, and it is what it is.

Now, things aren't looking too much better for Mike and Melinda. At the beginning of the episode, it's revealed that they had a blowout fight, after Mike caught a member of the crew sitting on Melinda's bed, with the door closed. Though, according to Melinda, the member of crew was just doing his job, the circumstances in which they were chatting seemed to strike a nerve with Mike, and he apparently went off.

Melinda and Mike attempt to discuss what happened, but it doesn't go well. Melinda thinks he's being controlling. Mike thinks it was disrespectful. Melinda claims he shouted at her. Mike denies it.

It all culminates with Melinda calling Mike a "washed-up 50-year old reality star" when he claims his fans and people that know him online know his honest character. Yikes.

I will also add, Mike manages to remember all the names of the men, but refers to Chloe as the "red dress girl", which is… interesting. But I digress.

At the couples' party, the wandering eyes have already started, and I would expect nothing less from reality TV.

Bernie, who has been continuously expressing how "fun" he is and how un-fun he thinks Marissa is, has his eyes set on Chloe now.

"The two of them walked in, and I was like, 'f*** me!,'" Bernie says.

"The blonde is a stunner."

They end up chatting quite a lot through the night, although, at this point, it doesn't feel like Chloe has caught his drift just yet.

The only good news this week is that Ariana and Nuri seem to be getting along well. They hold hands even when they're talking to other people, they're laughing, joking around. They even share their first kiss before the others arrive… it's cute.

With the chaos of this last episode, I have no doubt that next week will hold some tough conversations between the couples. Someone better hold Jordan accountable, or so help me!

Season three of the Stan Original Dating Series Love Triangle is now streaming on Stan, with a brand new episode every Sunday, only on Stan. Every episode of seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming.
