'I tried the L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream you're seeing everywhere. Here's my honest thoughts.'

Everyone has that one skincare product they couldn’t live without. And as someone who excels in having a dry face, a moisturiser is my pick.

While I’m not particularly loyal to any specific moisturiser (welcome to the life of a beauty editor), there are always some formulas that feel... different to others. 

L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream is one of those products.

When it first came across my desk, I was immediately excited. I'm a huge fan of L'Occitane (hey, Almond Shower Oil), so I had high hopes that it would get along with my face.

Now, just a note on my skin. As I mentioned above, she’s very dry. Can get irritated. Loves to throw a tantrum and deal out the odd flaky patch or angry breakout. 

In fact, over the past few months, she’s really enjoyed handing out the latter.

Between the chillier weather and getting off the Pill for the first time in 12 years, my skin was having a rough go of it, to say the very least. And as someone whose job involves trying lots of different products and telling people what’s worth their money – this was very difficult. 

So, with that in mind, here’s what happened when I invited the swanky L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream to the party.

What is L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream?

In case you haven't yet met this trending new product (where have you been, friend), L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream is a reformulation of the O.G. version, and it now includes something called immortelle super extract, which is a plant-based alternative to retinol that is gentle on the skin. 

For sensitive skin girlies like me, this is some very good news indeed.

Besides the star ingredient, this new version also includes 330 molecules which are composed of the four immortelle extracts to target the six signs of ageing. We're talking wrinkles, firmness, skin density, loss of radiance, uneven skin texture and uneven skin tone – the whole gang.

The cream also includes hardworking antioxidant properties and nourishing omegas 6 and 9, which work to help boost the skin's radiance and reduce the effects of damage caused by external aggressors.

How did you go with it?

Okay, now for the juicy stuff! I started trialling this guy around a month ago, and there were a few things I noticed and need to talk about immediately, BUT let’s talk about the packaging first. 

Because you can’t not talk about the packaging – come on, it’s gorgeous.

A weighty glass jar coated in gold writing and a gold lid, this cream feels expensive. Luxurious. And should definitely be placed in some very fancy bathroom cabinet instead of in my purple-tiled bathroom, but I digress.

The cream itself feels as luxe as skincare can probably get. Like, it’s ridiculously rich. Thick. Silky. And makes your skin feel like a velvety, happy dream.

The texture, along with the beautiful scent of the Immortelle Essential Oil, makes this the type of product that really elevates your skincare routine and makes it a whole experience, instead of the old slap-and-go process. 

Like, I actually looked forward to putting it on and massaging it into my skin each morning and night. And as someone who tries lots and lots of skincare products – I don’t get this feeling very often. It was really nice.

I found the formula itself to be lovely and gentle on the skin. And although it feels rich, it’s confusingly lightweight at the same time (?) and absorbs into your skin beautifully (like, my skin drinks – nay, SLURPS – it up). 

The finish is semi-matte, non-sticky and non-heavy. It's the perfect prep under makeup, and the best part? The hydration actually lasted.

Over the course of the trial, I found my skin honestly felt more hydrated, softer and comfortable. 

My usually rough forehead (thanks to a cute damaged skin barrier) began to feel smoother and less irritated. The niggling lines around my eyes weren’t as noticeable, and the persistent redness around my nose and chin cleared right up.

One of the biggest differences? My skin’s radiance. 

I found that it gave my dull, tired skin (we've been busy, stressed, not getting enough sleep) a much-needed boost, and everything looked brighter, more even, and just way better.

The verdict.

She’s good, very good.

Both parts luxurious and effective, this is one of those products you try, love, and never want to stop using. 

However, as beautiful and fancy as the formula looks and feels on my skin, my love for this product is in the ingredients and results. 

My skin was a flakey, dried and angry mess a couple of months back, and this hydrating and plumping formula absolutely turned it around. 

My skin truly looks healthier with this product in my routine.

So, yeah. It goes without saying, but I’ll definitely continue to use the Immortelle Divine Cream in my skincare routine and you bet I’m going to be cherishing it right down to the very last drop.
