Lily Allen's latest song was written about her stillborn baby.

“I held my child and it was really horrific and painful — one of the hardest things that can happen to a person.”

Singer Lily Allen has revealed that the lyrics of her song Something’s Not Right, featured in the movie “Pan”, were in memory of her stillborn baby boy she lost when she was 25.

Taking to Twitter five years to the day she was admitted to hospital ahead of giving birth to her first child the 30-year old singer said that the lyrics were about her son.

It’s unlike me to discuss this sort of thing so publicly but I wrote this song in his memory when writing something for @panmovie

    Six months into her first pregnancy in November 2010 after suffering a viral illness Allen gave birth to her stillborn baby son.

The song Something’s Not Right includes the lyrics, “Something’s not right / There aren’t many stars in the sky tonight / Something’s not right / ‘Cause I know that it’s day but it’s dark outside / And I feel a weight in my heart tonight.”

She asked fans to listen to the song and then ” if they liked it” to donate to the Sands, a stillbirth charity, in his honour.

Allen spoke of the experience of losing her son last year telling a British talk show host that while losing a child was “the most unfortunate thing that can ever happen to a person,” her husband Sam Cooper helped her to get through it.

“I think it’s difficult for anybody regardless of what world they live in and actually what I took home from that experience was… Even though it was the most unfortunate thing that can ever happen to a person, I was very fortunate in the sense that I have a loving partner to go home to and share that experience with.”

In an interview with The Sun she said that losing her son was something “I would not wish on my worst enemy”

“It’s something that I still haven’t dealt with. I never will get over it. I have dealt with it, you know, as being at one with it. But it’s not something you get over. I held my child and it was really horrific and painful — one of the hardest things that can happen to a person.”

Lily and her husband Sam have two daughters Ethel, aged three and Marnie aged two.
