The Love Island winner whose home was swallowed by a sinkhole.

If you thought you were having a bad December, it could be a lot worse.

For Liam Reardon, who most will know as the 2021 winner of Love Island UK, his end-of-year celebrations took an unexpected turn when he was at his family home in Wales on December 1, and the front gate of the house was suddenly swallowed up by a 50-foot sinkhole.

It happens to the best of us, right? Reality stars, they're just like us, etc etc.

It wasn't just Liam and his family who ended up with their home being eaten by a sinkhole, the collapsing hole in the ground was moving so fast that 30 homes in the Welsh town were evacuated.

Liam opened up about the rather baffling experience with his girlfriend, Love Island UK's Millie Court (yes, they're still going strong, sinkholes and all), on their podcast Liam and Millie.

"I have had a very, very strange, unusual and crazy week," he said. "We were in the house on Sunday morning having breakfast... then all of a sudden our front gate and wall disappeared into the hole."

The 25-year-old said it began when the family could "hear the thumping of the ground disappearing". Totally fine!

"Everyone's on the street [was yelling], 'Get out of the house! Get out of the house!' I was having a cup of coffee, my yoghurt and eggs and the driveway was just falling away," he continued.

Someone please think of Liam's yoghurt! And eggs! (Intriguing combo, no?).

"We had to pack a case quickly and evacuate the house."

The whole family has been forced to relocate into a temporary AirBnb with the incident rendering the Reardons homeless.

"We can't go back to the house. The house has been emptied and apparently they're going knock the house down," Liam said.

"Thankfully none of us were injured, but it's a big inconvenience. It's the run-up to Christmas, we are virtually homeless. We need to find a home to move into now."

On the podcast, Millie shared that she couldn't help but laugh that the viral UK sinkhole story was about her boyfriend's house.

"I'm a bit of a wind-up and they put it in our group chat, like 'Oh my god Mils have you seen this? Is that near Liam?'" she explained. "I was like, 'yeah that's Liam's house' and they're like 'HAHAHA shut up lol'."

What do they say? If you don't laugh, you'll cry.

Jokes aside, we're sending love and light to Liam, his family, and all the Welsh people affected.

After a brief split in 2022, Liam and Millie have been going strong, and remain one of the most beloved Love Island UK couples of all time.

If they can survive a sinkhole, what can't they get through, we say?
