Tributes are flowing in after the sudden death of pop star Liam Payne, who was found dead at the age of 31 on October 17.

The former One Direction singer was found after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in Palermo in Buenos Aries, Argentina.

Police confirmed his death on Thursday morning.

"Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo," the statement read.

Citing officials, local news sites La Nacion and Clarin have reported that police were called to the hotel after responding to an emergency call that cited "an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol."

At the time, Payne was enjoying a vacation with his partner Kate Cassidy. He had recently attended Niall Horan's show, a fellow member of Liam's boy band One Direction.

The group became a global sensation after being formed on X Factor.

Payne has a seven-year-old son Bear with UK pop singer Cheryl Cole who he dated from 2015 to 2018.

Since the tragic news broke, Payne's famous friends and music collaborators have shared tributes for the 'Strip That Down' singer.

Simon Cowell, who helped form the band on the X Factor, shared a lengthy statement on Instagram, saying he was "heartbroken".

"You never really know how you feel about someone until a moment like this happens," he wrote.

"Liam, I am truly devastated. Heartbroken. And I feel empty. And I want you to know how much love and respect I have for you. Every tear I have shed is a memory of you.

"This is so difficult to put in words right now. I went outside today, and I thought about so many times we had together. I wanted to let you know what I would always say to the thousands of people who would always ask me. 'What is Liam like?' And I would tell them you were kind, funny, sweet, thoughtful, talented, humble, focused. And how much you loved music. And how much love you genuinely had for the fans.

"I had to tell you when you were 14 that this wasn't your time. And we both made a promise that we would meet again. A lot of people would have given up. You didn't. You came back and within months the whole world knew Liam. And you never forgot the fans. I watched you spending so much time with people who had wanted to meet you. You really cared.

"You came to see me last year. Not for a meeting. Just to sit and talk. And we reminisced about all of the fun times we had together. And how proud you were to be a Dad. After you left, I was reminded that you were still the sweet, kind boy I met all of those years ago.

"I have met your son, Bear. He has your smile and that twinkle in his eyes you have. And he will be so proud of everything you achieved. And how you achieved it. I always thought of the 5 of you in the band as brothers. And reading their messages today I believe you were.

"And now Liam, I can see the effect you had on so many people. Because you left us too soon. Rest in peace my friend. And I am sending my love, thoughts and prayers to your family. Simon X."

One Direction's tribute to Liam Payne.

Payne's former One Direction band mates broke their silence amid the news of Liam's death. Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik released a joint statement to their fans around the world."We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."

"The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam."

Harry Styles shared a photo of Liam, along with a tribute to his band mate on Instagram.

"I am truly devasted by Liam's passing," the post began.

"His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honour to be alongside him as he did. Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious," the post continued.

"He was warm, supportive, and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life. I will miss him always, my lovely friend.

"My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicole and Ruth, his son Bear, and all those around the world who loved him, as I did."

Following One Direction's joint announcement, band mate Louis Tomlinson took to his Instagram to share a long and emotional statement, with a special message for Liam.

"I am beyond devastated to be writing this but yesterday I lost a brother," he began. "Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul."I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, I was instantly amazed by his voice but more importantly as time went on I got a chance to see the kind brother I'd longed all my life for."

Louis praised Liam as an incredible songwriter and said they often spoke about getting back in the studio to write together like they had in One Direction.

"And for the record, Liam was in my opinion the most vital part of One Direction. His experience from a young age, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for writing. The list goes on. Thank you for shaping us Liam."

Louis also wanted to share a message, directly with Liam.

"I feel beyond lucky to have had you in my life but I'm really struggling with the idea of saying goodbye. I'm so grateful that we got even closer since the band, speaking on the phone for hours, reminiscing about all the thousands of amazing memories we had together is a luxury I thought I'd have with you for life. I would have loved to share the stage with you again but it wasn't to be.

Louis also acknowledged the family that Liam leaves behind, pledging to look after his son like an uncle would.

"I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was," he wrote. "I wish I got chance to say goodbye and tell you one more time how much I loved you. Payno, my boy, one of my best friends, my brother, I love you mate. Sleep well X"

Zayn Malik shares his statement.

Soon after Louis' statement, Zayn Malik also took to his Instagram to share a sweet snap of him and Liam together.

Hugging and asleep in the back of a tour bus, he simply captioned it, "Miss you bro."

He shared, "Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can't but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives.

"I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life."When I was missing home as a 17 year old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved," Zayn continued. "Even though you were younger than me you were always more sensible than me, you were headstrong, opinionated, and gave no f--ks about telling people when they were wrong."Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, [laugh cry emoji], I always secretly respected you for it. When it came to the music Liam, you were the most qualified in every sense. I knew nothing in comparison, I was a novice child with no experience and you were already a professional. Niall Horan shares his statement.

Niall was the final member of One Direction to share a tribute. Taking to Instagram, the 31-year-old shared an old photo with Liam from their days in One Direction, captioning the post with a black heart emoji.

The singer said he was "absolutely devastated".

He wrote, "I'm absolutely devastated about the passing of my amazing friend, Liam. It just doesn't feel real.

"Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious. He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and secure.

"All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through the sadness. We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever. The bond and friendship we had doesn't happen often in a lifetime.

"I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently. I sadly didn't know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It's heartbreaking.

Liam's girlfriend Kate Cassidy broke her silence on the loss of her partner on Saturday morning, posting a statement to her Instagram stories.

She wrote, "Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way.

"I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.

"Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam."

Cheryl Cole shares her statement.

Liam's ex partner, and the mother of his seven-year-old son Bear, shared a moving tribute following the loss of the singer, posting a black-and-white photo of Liam with his then-newborn.

She wrote, "As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I'd like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.

"Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again."

'I am in shock': Hollywood mourns Liam Payne.

More tributes from Payne's friends and collaborators have flooded in.

Rita Ora, who worked with him on 'For You', wrote on X: "I'm devastated 💔 He had the kindest soul, I will never forget. I loved working with him so much - he was just such a joy to be around on and off stage. This tragic news breaks my heart. Sending all my love and prayers to his family and loved ones."

During her concert in Japan, Rita broke down in tears while performing the pair's track and showed a picture of herself and Payne in the background, telling the audience, "I can't even sing this right now."

Halsey posted an emotional letter on Tumblr, reflecting on her time as a One Direction fan and her connection to Payne, sharing, "It hurts deeply to mourn someone you were a massive fan of as a teenager, and became a peer of as an adult.

Producer Zedd, who collaborated with Payne on Get Low, tweeted: "I can't believe this is real… absolutely heartbreaking."

Juicy J, who also worked with Payne, added, "RIP. Liam Payne wow I can't believe it prayers up for the family."

Former X Factor contestants Jedward also paid their respects, writing on X: "RIP Liam Payne 💔 condolences to friends and family. Sending strength to Cheryl and his son Bear and all the One Direction family."

Modest Management, who worked closely with Payne and One Direction, shared: "We are absolutely devastated by the tragic news... Liam brought so much pleasure to millions of fans around the globe. Our thoughts go out to all his family, his son Bear and all friends."

Liam Gallagher of Oasis also commented, saying, "Life is precious kids and you only get to do it ONCE go easy LG x."

The Backstreet Boys added: "Words can not express the emotions we are collectively feeling right now, and it seems like the rest of the world is in the same boat. Rest in peace brother."

Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones shared, "I am shocked and saddened... God bless Liam, thinking of all his loved ones."

Former Boyzone singer Mikey Graham wrote on X/Twitter: "Rip Liam Payne. Such tragic news. I think it would be a wise move for record companies to have psychologists on their books from now on in his memory as a duty of care for the vulnerability of their young talent," he said.

"Fame can be very damaging, especially in today's world. Lots of money. Nobody to help. Lots of yes people. Nobody honest."

In an Instagram Story, artist Charlie Puth wrote: "I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I can not believe he is gone…"

Paris Hilton shared her sentiments on X. "So upsetting to hear the news of @LiamPayne passing," she wrote.

Controversial TV presenter Piers Morgan added "Good grief… what a shocking tragedy."

Music network MTV wrote in a statement on their social channels: "We're deeply saddened to learn of Liam Payne's tragic passing today. During this difficult time, our hearts remain with his family, loved ones, and fans."
