You've told us you're tired of carrying too much. You're tired of worrying about things that shouldn't be so hard. Your health. Your safety. The cost of living. And what the future looks like for your daughters, sisters, friends and for you.
At Mamamia, our purpose is simple: to make the world a better place for women and girls. Sometimes that means making you laugh, or offering you a moment of calm. And sometimes it means sitting in the hard stuff with you, and saying, "OK, let's do something about this."
We don't take lightly the fact that each month 7.5 million women across Australia come to us not just for content, but for connection. You don't just listen. You speak back. You show us where we can do better. You share your stories. You ask us for help.
And we're listening. Not just in the comments or DMs, but in the corridors of Parliament.
A fortnight ago, our Chief Content Officer Zara Curtis and I travelled to Canberra to meet with Senator Katy Gallagher, the Minister for Women and Minister for Finance. We brought your voices with us, your concerns about what's getting harder, and your hopes for what should get better.
Watch: Three men try a period pain stimulator to see if they can handle women's pain. Post continues below.
We talked about the need for:
- More affordable and accessible women's healthcare & ensuring women feel seen, heard and understood when it comes to their health.
- Real support with the cost of living and empowering women to take more control of their financial future.
- A stronger, safer country for women and girls.
We talked about progress too, like the new PBS listings for women's health treatments, and stronger transparency on the gender pay gap. Because while we won't stop asking for more, we also know that change deserves to be acknowledged. That progress takes persistence. And that partnership matters.
Minister Gallagher and her team are clearly fighting hard for Australian women, and we are fortunate to have her in our corner, especially when she sits across the hall from the Prime Minister.
But this isn't about politics. It's about people. It's about you. The women who keep this country running, and who deserve more.
We'll keep pushing through what we publish. Through who we partner with. Through what we say in public and behind closed doors. You have trusted us with your stories.
So thank you. For showing up. For calling things out. For sharing your stories. For asking us to be more than a media company.
We're with you. We're working on it. And we won't stop.
