Stephanie Scott's school has a moving message for students as the holidays end.

As students go back to school today, Leeton High School has a touching message for staff, students and the community.

Today, students of New South Wales’ Leeton High School are returning from holidays without their beloved teacher Stephanie Scott.

Ms Scott was murdered in a case that shook the entire town over the Easter break, after a five-day search finally recovered her body and her alleged killer.

The school has posted a moving message on its Facebook page, reminding the students, staff and community to stick together through this difficult week.

It reads:

“Tomorrow is the start of what will be the most difficult week of school life for both students and teachers. We will be aided by a large number of people in supportive roles and there are several individuals and organisations to whom we offer so much gratitude.

More importantly, though, we have each other. Rest assured, if you stumble or fall, you will do so into the safe hands of many who care about you. At other times, your hands could be needed and we know you will be there. A reminder that students return Tuesday.

For Steph. For our school. For our town. For each other.”

School will resume on Tuesday for Leeton students, some of whom will be shaken by the absence of their favourite teacher and her widely publicised death.

School cleaner Vincent Stanford has been charged with her murder — the full details of which are still mostly unknown.

Ms Scott was reported missing on Easter Sunday, and her burnt remains were discovered several days later.

The Australian reported last week that some locals are fearful of going back to school. A local mother, Jodie Salerno had said her three children “don’t want to return” to Leeton High School and feel the absence of their favourite teacher.

Another woman wrote on the Leeton News Facebook page:  “My daughter lost her favourite teacher and she will never be the same… Justice for Stephanie, her fiance and family will be served!”

The funeral for Stephanie Scott will take place this Wednesday.
