'I'm on a mission to find shoes for big feet that aren't... ugly. Here are the best pairs.'

Dear retailers… why don’t you want my money?

I come into your shops, I scour your online stores and I Google incessantly trying to find shoes that aren’t… ugly. Except the thing is, my feet are not the standard size 7.

Like many women around Australia (including six in my office when I conducted a quick poll) I wear a size 12, which is a European size 42 or 43 for those playing along at home.

In most stores, they stop at a size 41 — and while there's now more size-inclusive clothing, feet come in different sizes, too!

Sure, I can head online to some obscure specialty stores with awful names like “Huge Hooves” or “Flippers R Us” (okay I’m exaggerating for dramatic effect but the names are pretty grim). And the choices are veeeery small, which is quite ironic.

And I’ll let you in on a secret, women with feet a few sizes bigger than the average don’t suddenly want to wear shoes designed for either a mediaeval peasant or a basketballer.

All my big-footed girlies will know the struggle of attempting to squeeze your feet into nearest size available and just dealing with the blisters later (I still have trauma from the ballet flat years and REFUSE to believe they’re making a comeback.)

So what’s the point of my ranting, you ask?

Well, I've scoured high and low to find brands that actually cater to us gals with bigger feet that are actually fashionable.

Check them out below — and let me know if you have any recommendations I need to add to the list!

TWOOBS.

This Aussie brand created by two Melbourne sisters goes up to size 45 (!!!) in their range of sustainable flat and platform sandals. They’re super comfy and a girlier version of a Birks.

I got the lilac slides in a 43 and the sizing is actually quite generous so I easily could've gone down a size.

Millwoods.

This Aussie-founded business designs beautiful loafers, boots and statement flats, going up to a size 44 (which is music to my large flippers!).

I'm obsessed with these pointed flats — which come in a range of colours from this forest green to hot pink — and I'm planning to add a pair of each style to my cart immediately.

Millwoods Poplar Pointed Flats, $184.

Walnut Melbourne.

One Melbourne brand thinking of the big-footed girlies is Walnut. They have a great range of classic styles and more bold designs, plus their ballet flats go up to size 43.

FRANKIE4.

Okay, yes they're expensive. But this brand, hands down, makes the comfiest sneakers I’ve ever worn, so they’re worth the investment and go up to a size 13! Praise be.

FRANKIE4 Drew White/Black Croc Emboss, $274.95.

ASOS.

ASOS flies under the radar for shoes because their fashion offering is so extensive, but I’ve just discovered their shoe range extends up to size 14 in a variety of styles, plus they carry a few international brands with extended sizing.

They also have wide-fit options at a more affordable price point.

Rollie.

I discovered this brand when I snagged a pair of their shoes on The Iconic and I've been obsessed every since. They have options going up to a size 46 (HOORAY!) and tonnes of styles that are perfect for work or casual wear.

Rollie Pointed Slingback, $189.95.

EOS.

Okay so this one doesn't have the biggest size range, but honestly size 42 is an improvement on most ranges available, so I'm including them in the list. This Melbourne shoe brand does gorgeous mid-heels and summer sandals up to size 42.

EOS Petricia Sandals, $169.95.

EOS Mishk Slides, $149.95.

Wittner.

Wittner now have extended sizing in some of their range — emphasis on some. They go to size 43 in a few styles (which are all heels for some reason) but it's a big step in the right direction. (Yes, I see what I did there. )

Carelina Block Heel Leather Sandal, $199.
