Calls to help the family of a 28-year-old mum-of-four who drowned in Adelaide.

Family and friends have set up a fundraising page to help the four children of a mother who drowned at a popular Adelaide beach last week.

Kylie Ashcroft, 28, was pulled from the water at Aldinga Beach at around 7pm last Thursday after she had drifted away from the shore on an inflatable raft. It is understood she was trying to save a nine-year-old girl when the tragedy struck.

The mother-of-four could not be revived.

Now, her friend Monique Robson has set up a GoFundMe page to help ease the financial burden on Kylie's family and help provide for the four children she left behind.

"At just 28 years old, Kylie was taken from this Earth, leaving behind 4 beautiful children," Monique wrote.

"Kylie was an amazingly strong, independent, fun loving woman. She was kind, compassionate and generous; always the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need, never asking for anything in return.

"She was a wonderful friend who you could always count on; but more than anything, she was an AMAZING Mum. Her kids were her entire world."

Monique said the loss of their mother would leave an "unimaginable hole" in her children's lives.

"This campaign has been created in an attempt to ease some of the financial burden on Kylie's family (who are now caring for her four children), to help give her the beautiful farewell she deserves and to offer support to her darling babies.

"If you have the means, please consider donating to this precious family. They are going to need all the love and support they can get during this terribly sad time."

The campaign had on Wednesday morning raised $6,000 of its $10,000 goal.
