"It's run its course." Kyle Sandilands has confirmed his split from Imogen Anthony after seven years together.

For months Kyle Sandilands and Imogen Anthony have been fielding questions on social media, and from the media themselves, about the state of their relationship.

On Tuesday, the radio shock jock confirmed those rumours – after seven years, he and Imogen are no more.

“We haven’t been living together for a few months, quite a few months, unfortunately it’s run its course,” he told his KIIS 106.5 breakfast show.

“So here we all are in the same boat,” he told Jackie O, his co-host who split from her husband, and father of her daughter Kitty, in October 2018.

“You’re single, I am… what a sad bunch of people we are,” said Kyle.

“We laughed at you others [who had split], we laughed at running around finding love only to end up sh*t out of luck ourselves,” he continued before telling the show he wouldn’t be going into any more detail than that.

In July, a source told Woman’s Day they were “preparing to announce their split”.

But when the article went live Kyle and Jackie O made fun of it calling it a “lie” on air.

“I don’t understand why people buy that rubbish, it should be called Fantasy magazine, where it’s just fantasy stories in there,” Kyle said on the show.

Imogen also addressed the rumours on Instagram, saying that she had enough to deal without “blatant made up sh*t”.

Kyle and Imogen began dating in 2011 after meeting at Kyle’s 40th birthday party, a year after he split from wife Tamara Jaber.

In 2014, Imogen, a model and designer, told Maxim she knew their relationship was real when Kyle, now 48, told her he loved her after just two weeks.

They have a 20 year age gap, but according to Kyle age is not a factor they have ever worried about.

“I don’t see any age difference between us,” he said in 2013. “She is not a super-young 22-year-old and I am not a super-old 41-year-old.

“I am a workaholic but I spend every moment I can with Imogen.”

Imogen told News.com.au last year their relationship worked so well because she and Kyle are basically “the same person”.

“We are exactly the same person, just a male and female version 20 years apart. I don’t think we could live without each other.”

In 2018, the couple purchased their first home together, a $3 million, 61 hectare farm in the NSW town of Robertson, south-west of Wollongong.

“Last week was a big week for us as we finally got the keys to our first dream property together down on the Southern Highlands,” Imogen wrote on Instagram.

“We are now the proud owners of over 150 acres of prime land for our animals, future animals and potential little human animals.”

Rumours of an engagement have come and gone over the years, with Imogen responding to the rumours in 2017 with the comment, “I don’t think it’s too far off”.

As recently as earlier this year Kyle joked, “There will be another one soon,” while discussing his 2008 wedding with I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner Richard Reid.

Imogen hasn’t talked about their split as of yet, posting on Halloween about their plan to go as Homer and Marge together just last week.

“Kyle was doing Homer but had to stay in Australia,” she wrote on Instagram from Beverly Hills.

Kyle finished his announcement on radio jokingly asking his colleagues to “carry him to the car”.

His newsreader Brooklyn Ross added “we love ya,” as the host ended the segment.
