Kyle Sandilands takes a stab at Rove McManus during an interview with Ricki-Lee Coulter.

Radio host Kyle Sandilands’s verbal outburst on Thursday morning was so unprovoked, it seemed as though he himself didn’t even know it was coming.

Sandilands, 45, was conducting an interview with singer Ricki-Lee Coulter on his KIISFM radio show when he hit out at fellow radio personality, Rove McManus.

The comments explicitly outlined his resentment of 42-year-old McManus, with Sandilands saying, “I hate Rove McManus… I can’t stand the *****.”

The comments were said to have been met with silence before the 45-year-old backtracked with a quiet recognition of his outburst.

“I don’t know what that’s got to do with anything, but yeah,” he said.

Sandilands and fellow KIISFM host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson were speaking to Coulter about the possibility of her old band, Young Divas, re-uniting.

The outburst may seem unusual but they echo a sentiment Sandilands has seemingly held for around 12 years.

The shock jock told The Herald Sun in 2011 his resentment stems back to the alleged actions of McManus in the early 2000s. Sandilands said McManus sledged his former wife, Tamara Jaber, after she began releasing songs.

“I’ll tell you what happened… we used to go on Rove’s show and like everyone else I thought he was nice. And when Tamara brought those songs out a few years ago and the newspapers started caning her and lying, saying I was the only person playing it… Rove jumped on the bandwagon and started to have a go,” he said.

“So when he started sinking the boot in, I started hating him and then when Rove’s wife (Belinda) passed away, he and I met up again and he said ‘I’m sorry, I understand, I shouldn’t have gone there with the Tamara situation’.”

The apology was said to have brought about a brief truce that was later dropped.

"Then two weeks later he was an a---hole to me and Tamara on his TV show... Everyone thinks he's cookies and cream when he's a little pr---...he's a little a---hole," Sandilands said.

The Victorian paper also reported how McManus shrugged off the feud as one-sided during a radio segment.

"As I keep saying to people, for there to be a rivalry it has to go two ways and it's just from him. I have no feelings for him either way," he said.
