Kanye West just crossed a line for Kim Kardashian. It may cost him custody of his kids.

The current Kim Kardashian and Kanye West situation is unbelievably messy and difficult to keep up with.

Since their divorce in 2021, Kardashian has expressed her desire to co-parent her and West's children. Recently, however, it's becoming increasingly difficult due to West's erratic behaviour.

Earlier this week, TMZ reported that Kardashian called for an emergency custody hearing after learning that West had invited the controversial Tate brothers to be present during one of his visits with his daughter, North West.

Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate have become controversial media personalities. The brothers are facing serious criminal charges in Romania, including human trafficking, rape, and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women. They have also been accused of tax evasion and are wanted in the UK to face allegations of sexual assault. The brothers have consistently denied all the charges and allegations against them.

Andrew Tate, a self-proclaimed misogynist, has made numerous derogatory statements about women, calling them "intrinsically lazy" and claiming there's "no such thing as an independent female". He has also stated that women should "bear responsibility" for sexual assault. Tate has amassed 10.8 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), and authorities overseas have singled him out for spreading misogyny online amongst boys. Police are working with counter-terrorism teams to combat the risks of young men being radicalised by such content.

When a security guard called Kim Kardashian to alert her that the Tate brothers, who returned to the States in February 2025 after facing sex crime charges overseas, would be arriving at North and West's meeting place, the 44-year-old abruptly ended the visit, as per TMZ.

The update comes one week after West released a controversial song titled 'Lonely Roads Still Go To Sunshine' featuring North West and Sean "Diddy" Combs, the latter of whom is currently awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

Reportedly, Kardashian attempted to block North from being featured on the song, sending cease and desist letters regarding the song's release, and also appealing to West over message. In alleged screenshots of a text conversation between Kardashian and West, shared by the latter on social media, Kardashian cited her ownership of North's trademark.

"I asked you at the time if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she's 18 it goes to her. So stop," Kardashian wrote, according to the screenshots which have not been verified. "I sent paperwork over so she wouldn't be in the Diddy song. To protect her."

West reportedly responded: "Amend it or I'm going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout. You're going to have to kill me."

After the song was released, West vented his frustrations about the co-parenting arrangement on X.

"I DONT WANT TO JUST 'SEE' MY KIDS. I NEED TO RAISE THEM. I NEED TO HAVE SAY SO OF WEAR [sic] THEY GO TO SCHOOL AND WHO THEIR FRIENDS ARE AND WHOS [sic] HOUSES THEY SLEEP OVER WEATHER [sic] MY DAUGHTERS WEAR LIPSTICK AND PERFUME," West wrote.

The rapper further claimed that, "ALL THESE RIGHTS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM ME BY THE KARDASHIAN MOB HULU AND DISNEY AND THE BIGGER AGENDA TO USE THE SELECTIVELY BRED BLACK CHILDREN TO BE PLATFORMS TO INFLUENCE BLACK PEOPLE."

West then compared his current custody arrangement to prison visitation, stating, "JUST SEEING MY KIDS IS LIKE VISITATION. ITS LIKE IM IN PRISON 'SEEING' MY KIDS."

The former couple share four children: North, 11, Saint, nine, Chicago, seven, and Psalm, five. Their divorce was finalised in 2022 after eight years of marriage.

This March, five days after Kardashian and West sat down with their attorneys and a mediator, West made the outrageous claim on X that Kardashian and her family are sex-trafficking children, referencing North's involvement in an FKA Twigs song and TikTok video.

This came after he shared a disturbing post on X about Beyoncé and Jay-Z's seven-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir, where he questioned the children's mental capacity.

Beyoncé's parents have since responded to West's comments.

"It's hard to remain positive and classy in the face of ignorance and evil. But I know that no weapon formed against me or my family shall prosper," Tina Knowles reportedly wrote in a since-edited Instagram caption.

Beyoncé's father, Matthew Knowles, also spoke to TMZ, saying, "People pay a price for being stupid, especially in the music industry. I'm hopeful Kanye gets the type of help he needs, in terms of mental health."

West's recent outbursts come amid increasingly controversial behaviour on social media, including posts sharing anti-Semitic content.

When Kardashian divorced West, she cited his public mental health struggles, erratic behaviour, and controversial social media antics as contributing factors, ultimately leading her to prioritise the children's well-being. Though their split saw Kardashian endure harrassment from West, she remained committed to co-parenting together. Since then, things have only snowballed.

February, 2021: Kim Kardashian files for divorce.

Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce from Kanye West after nearly seven years of marriage in February 2021.

A source close to the situation told E! "It's gotten to the point where they haven't spent time together as a married couple in months. They've seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She's known for a while."

The public speculated there was strain in their relationship around July of the previous year when West launched a bid for President of the United States. The rapper went on to divulge personal details about his family online and, during a campaign rally, reveal that he and Kardashian even considered abortion when they were pregnant with their first child.

"Even if my wife wants to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world even when I didn't want to," he said. "She stood up and she protected that child."

This prompted Kardashian to address her husband's bipolar disorder diagnosis in a rare public statement, imploring people to exercise "compassion" for their "complicated and painful" situation.

West's unpredictable behaviour continued, with claims that Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner had tried to "lock him up". He also alleged that he had been looking to end their marriage since 2018. Days later, West issued a public apology to Kardashian on social media.

The couple then reunited in Cody, Wyoming, for their first face-to-face meeting in weeks, with a source telling PEOPLE that Kardashian was "very emotional about everything, and also exhausted".

December, 2021: Kanye West makes a public plea to Kim.

10 months after Kardashian filed for divorce, West made a public plea to his ex-wife during the Free Larry Hoover concert in Los Angeles.

While performing his song Runaway, the rapper altered the lyrics to say, "I need you to run right back to me, baby," adding, "more specifically, Kimberly".

March, 2022: Kim Kardashian is declared legally single.

Three months later, Kardashian appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court via video call for a bifurcation hearing, where she confirmed her desire to be legally single. The judge, Steve Cochran, granted her request. West was not present at the hearing.

In sworn statements, the reality star claimed that her marriage had "irretrievably" failed and that both she and West deserved "the opportunity to build new lives".

Lawyers for the former couple finalised paperwork, which included a name change form for Ye, before the judge declared Kardashian single.

Following this decision, Kim removed "West" from her social media profile.

March to October, 2022: Kanye West taunts Kim's new boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

Two days after the hearing, West released a music video for his song Eazy, which depicted a clay-mation figure resembling Pete Davidson (Kim's then-boyfriend) being kidnapped and buried alive. This caused significant controversy and concern.

West also included the lyrics, "God saved me from that crash just so I could beat Pete Davidson's ass".

Five months later, West posted a threatening image on Instagram featuring a fake New York Times headline reading "Skete Davidson Dead at Age 28" (Skete being Pete).

  1. In October that year, West referred to Davidson as a "heroin addict" while appearing on the Trevor Noah podcast, saying "The 78 media outlets that called me an abuser when I was tryna get that heroin addict away from my kids that was tattooing my kids' names on him, Skete, Pete Davidson..."

West also reportedly made "Pete Davidson has AIDS" T-shirts to taunt the comedian while he was dating Kardashian.

Reports at the time suggested that Davidson wasn't rocked by West's taunts, with sources close to the comedian saying he found it "hilarious", as per Page Six.

November, 2022: The divorce is finalised.

Kardashian and West's divorce was officially finalised in November 2022. The settlement included: joint physical and legal custody of their four children, $200,000 monthly child support payment from West to Kardashian, West's responsibility for half of the children's medical, educational, and security expenses.

At the time, Kardashian's lawyer Laura Wasser stated: "Kim's priority has always been the children's well-being. She is relieved that they have both been able to reach a resolution that puts the children first."

December, 2022: Kim Kardashian opens up about co-parenting, and Kanye West remarries.

As Kanye continued to make headlines with controversial statements and behaviour, Kardashian focused on co-parenting and protecting their children.

During an interview with Angie Martinez, Kim said, "Co-parenting is hard. It's really f***ing hard. I had the best dad, and I had the best memories and the greatest experience, and that's all I want for my kids as long as they can have that."

That same month, West got married to model and Yeezy architect Bianca Censori.

Later, in August 2024, an insider told OK! that Kardashian feels "compassion" for Censori.

"She knows first-hand how controlling Kanye is, and how difficult it is to get away from him once he has you hooked," the source said.

May, 2024: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reunite publicly.

In May 2024, the former couple had a rare reunion to watch their daughter North's performance at The Lion King's 30th-anniversary special at the Hollywood Bowl.

"Kanye and I want the best for the kids," the Skims founder said during an episode of The Kardashians. "And so, anytime we're here supporting our child, it's always good vibes."

Following North's performance of 'I Just Can't Wait to be King', West said: "Man, she did so good." Kardashian agreed, replying: "I was just crying from the side."

Februrary 2025, Kanye West is accused of "controlling" Bianca Censori, and North switches sides.

Many have long believed Ye uses clothes to control the women in his life, and Bianca Censori's nude Grammys attire was just another example of this.

However, what was surprising was the rapper's apparent admission that this is, indeed, what's been happening.

"I have dominion over my wife," he shared on X, his emphatic message in all capitals.

"Say the red carpet look was her decision. Yes, I don't make her do anything she doesn't want to, but she definitely wouldn't have been able to do it without my approval, you stupid woke pawns."

That same month, Kardashian said she had noticed a significant change in her relationship with her daughter, North, who had been mad at her throughout the divorce, and often expressed desire to go visit her dad.

"North is like obsessed with me now and calls me with her friends, like, 'Mum, I love you. You're the best mum, I love you so much'," she said in an episode of The Kardashians.

It was around the same time that West claimed he had been misdiagnosed with bipolar, when really he had autism.

"Autism takes you to a Rain Man thing," West said on a podcast called The Download. "'I'ma wear this Trump hat because I like Trump in general.' And then when people tell you to not do it, you just get on that one point. And that's my problem.

"When fans tell me to do my album a certain way, I'll do it the opposite way," he added, referencing his friend and former manager Don C, saying: "It's been so hard on him because he loves me. It's so difficult for them, because this is like a grown man – you can't take control of his bank account, you can't control what I'm saying on Twitter."

From there, West's behaviour became increasingly erratic, with claims mounting that he was using nitrous oxide — commonly known as laughing gas — which a source said caused him to "meltdown".

March 2025: What is going on with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West now?

That brings us to now. Following the rapper's actions in regard to Diddy and the Tate brothers, Kardashian is reportedly considering modifying their custody arrangement to protect her children.

Citing sources, Page Six claimed that the mother-of-four is considering filing full custody amid worries that West is "sinking further down."

"It's not getting any better, he's not a well person, he's sinking further down, and he's not acting rationally," an insider told the outlet. "There's so much negativity — I don't think he can come out of this."

A separate source told Us Weekly: "She [Kim] is in a very tough position when she really has to co-parent with him. Right now he [West] is very distracted and she does not want to say anything bad about him, but the safety of her kids is what is (motivating this consideration)."
