For the first time, we can't fault what Kim Kardashian said about her ‘cellulite’ photos.

When photos of Kim Kardashian West – or more specifically, Kim Kardashian West’s bum – enjoying a Mexican holiday made their way around the internet in April, much of the world cheered.

‘Did you see those cellulite shots?’ people asked. ‘Her bum looked so natural. Like she’s enjoying her holiday and not apologising for it.’

Kardashian West even confirmed our suspicions by tweeting, “I’m just sitting here on the beach with my flawless body.”

That day was a good day, we thought.

Naturally, there were those who disagreed and revelled in calling the tech mogul out for her vacay bod.

When discussing the images on Good Morning Britain, host Susanna Reid said, ““I think we should celebrate cellulite, it’s a fact of life for, I’d say, 90 percent of women.”

But the show’s guest, Piers Morgan did not agree.

“Why would we celebrate it? We put up with it, tolerate it, but not accept it,” Morgan said. “Flaws should not be celebrated.”

And while pretty much every woman ever rolled their eyes to Morgan's comments, it seems Kardashian West was not okay with those images either. Because as it happens, they may not be so natural after all.

Appearing on The View on Tuesday, the 36-year-old said the images were "awful".

She said, "I was definitely not in my best shape."

Most troublingly, though, she said people were "Photoshopping them and sharpening them".

She explained, "I hadn't worked out in about 12 weeks, I'd had two surgeries on my uterus. I was already not feeling like myself and when people were like, sharpening them and making them look way worse, and then those were going around."

And, as to sadly be expected, the circulation of those enhanced images had the effect that is familiar to so many women.

"I was like 'OK, I'm going to get it together' and I started working out with this bodybuilder girl.'"

If Kardashian West is telling the truth about the photos, she says she now works out for up to an hour-and-a-half a day and has overhauled her diet. In other words, she's attempting to beat those who feel she has more worth when she's "flawed" at their own game - she's getting rid of the cellulite.

Shaming Kardashian West for her body, as Morgan and many others took the opportunity to do when the photos were released, is nothing new. As Mamamia previously wrote about here, it's been going on since the early days of her fame.

But at every turn, Kardashian West's solution is to prove her haters wrong. Which is admirable, but honestly, she shouldn't have to. No one should have to lose weight or tone up or fit into a sample size to prove their worth in the world. Least of all, someone who has proved it time and time again in so many other ways.

Obviously, anyone - Kim Kardashian West included - is entitled to feel however they want to about their body. But if someone who is nearing 40, has astronomical career success, is married to a loving partner, has two happy and healthy children, is surrounded by loving family and friends and has more money than they'll ever need isn't immune to the pressures of unattainable beauty, what hope do the rest of us have?
