A very famous pop star is suing her record label for covering up her sexual assault.

It’s alleged the record company knew of the abuse and attempted to conceal it.

Kesha, a singer typically covered in glitter who was made famous for her hit ‘Tik Tok’, is suing Sony Music for failing to protect her against her long-time music producer “Dr. Luke” (real name Lukasz Gottwald).

It was announced late last year that the 28-year-old was suing Dr. Luke for sexual, physical, verbal and emotional abuse over a period of 10 years as the pair worked together. The lawsuit claimed Dr. Luke took advantage of her from the age of 18, and plied her with drugs and alcohol to lower her control.

After being served with a countersuit by Dr. Luke, Kesha has amended hers to now include Sony Music, her record company.

The new lawsuit claims Sony failed to protect her from abuse at the hands of Dr. Luke. In documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, it’s alleged the record label is “desperate” for pop stars and invest a lot of money in Dr. Luke to create them from innocent, unassuming women.

“SME’s (Sony) conduct placed Jane Doe female artists, including Ms. Sebert (Kesha), in physical danger by giving Dr. Luke full creative and business control, with nearly limitless financial resources, over young female artists who necessarily were compelled to become dependent upon his good will,” the lawsuit states.

“Dr. Luke’s proclivity for abusive conduct was open and obvious to [Sony Music Entertainment] Doe executives, who either knew of the conduct and turned a blind eye, failed to investigate Dr. Luke’s conduct, failed to take any corrective action, or actively concealed Dr. Luke’s abuse.”

The documents also state that Sony Music solicited an abusive relationship between Kesha and Dr. Luke.

After the original lawsuit was filed, Dr. Luke sued Kesha’s lawyer for defamation, amidst claims the lawyer made that suggested Dr. Luke was responsible for a sexual assault on Lady Gaga that occurred nine years ago.

The lawyer, Mark Geragos, tweeted that Dr. Luke was responsible for raping Lady Gaga, after she identified herself as a survivor of sexual assault.

“And guess who the rapist was?” he tweeted at the time, then retweeted someone who named Dr. Luke in response.

The lawsuit fueled a ‘Free Kesha’ campaign where her fans rallied around the star as she fought to get out of her record contract with Sony.

The whole, ugly situation is ongoing for Kesha.
