Katie Holmes shares rare mother-daughter photos with 10-year-old Suri.

It’s rare for actress and filmmaker Katie Holmes to share images of her daughter on Instagram.

The feed is dominated by pictures of film she’s starred in, behind-the-scenes shots from movie sets, some friends, some fashion, a lot of black-and-white. Very little of her 10-year-old daughter Suri Cruise.

But, Holmes’ 38th birthday yesterday was an exception.

The actress, wearing a hat and sunglasses, posed with her smiling daughter for photographs that she shared with her 669,000 Instagram followers.

“Birthday vibes continued, so grateful today,” the caption of the second image read.

The pair celebrated with ten-pin bowling and party hats, which were also captured. A black-and-white photograph of birthday sweets was tagged: “Love today #mothersadndaughters #friends #love.”

2016 saw Holmes make her debut as director with All We Had, which premiered in the US on December, 9. She dedicated the film to Suri.

“It was my first film, and I want her to always know that she’s the inspiration behind everything,” she told The New York Times. “And so hopefully it means something as she gets older. Just to let her know how important she is.”

Suri is the daughter of Holmes and ex-husband, fellow actor, Tom Cruise. Holmes and Cruise were married in 2006 and divorced in 2012. They have shared custody of Suri since their split.
