A video of Kate Ritchie was circulating last week. She just responded.

For 20 years, we watched Kate Ritchie grow up on our screens as Sally Fletcher in Home and Away. Last week, we watched something else entirely — something we were never meant to see.

A concerning and highly invasive video of Kate Ritchie was published by the Daily Mail, showing the Nova radio host in visible distress in a Sydney park.

The footage quickly circulated the internet, and sparked a massive debate across social media platforms, reigniting conversations about celebrity privacy and mental health.

Social media users expressed outrage that someone chose to film and sell footage of Ritchie, rather than offer their support.

Now, Ritchie has addressed the video, opening up about her mental health.

"I struggle with mental health issues at times, which are deeply personal," Ritchie wrote in an Instagram post. "This has proven to be a bigger challenge than I imagined."

The radio host confirmed that she is stepping away from her broadcasting duties for now, expressing gratitude to the network for their response to her situation. "I want to thank all of those who are helping me through this very difficult time. I love you. Thank you, Nova, for being there when I need you."

Ritchie also called out the complete lack of privacy and empathy she was given by the media, and shared how much more difficult her recovery has been as a result of the "constant harassment" from the paparazzi.

"My struggle is not helped by the relentless stalking of me by paparazzi, in fact they are making it much worse," she wrote.

Ritchie also directly challenged those responsible for circulating the footage, and asked a simple but impactful question.

"Would you treat, say your sister, mother or daughter the same, if they had similar challenges?" she wrote.

There was an immediate outpouring of love in response to Ritchie's statement, with countless comments in solidarity.

Fellow Nova host, Ryan Fitzgerald offered his support to her, "Love you Kate. Always here," he wrote.

Other social media users applauded Ritchie for standing up for herself and condemned the paparazzi's relentless disrespect.

"I was appalled at the invasion of privacy! How dare they! My heart breaks for you right now. Take the time to heal, and I look forward to hearing you back on the radio when you're ready. Much love and strength to you," one user commented.

"Sending love, Kate. Good on you for looking after yourself and for demanding respect," another wrote.

Ritchie concluded her statement by requesting privacy as she focuses on her recovery, thanking those who have shown genuine concern and support during this difficult time.

"I appreciate it more than you can imagine. Thank you," she wrote.
