A day after her statement, Kate Ritchie's co-hosts Fitzy and Wippa have addressed the video.

Last week, a concerning and highly invasive video of Kate Ritchie was published by the Daily Mail, showing the Nova radio host in visible distress in a Sydney park.

The footage quickly circulated the internet and sparked massive debate across social media platforms, reigniting conversations about celebrity privacy and mental health.

People on social media expressed outrage that someone chose to film and sell footage of Ritchie, rather than offer their support.

Ritchie herself addressed the video just yesterday. Now, her Nova co-hosts, Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald and Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli, have offered their support.

Speaking on air, Wippa confirmed that their "beautiful colleague and close friend" is taking some time out from the show.

"Thank you for all the calls and all the messages that we've received and Kate's been receiving," Wippa said.

"We've all been chatting with her and checking in regularly. Mental illness is tough and what was portrayed in the media was not right. There was an option to help and that was not taken, rather it was filmed and sold for commercial purposes."

Fitzy agreed with his co-host, saying: "What you saw last week, obviously visually she was very distressed," he said. "In a time like that when you see someone who is visually struggling, like she was, our thought is to extend your arms and go over and try and support that person.

"Unfortunately, Kate felt like she wasn't supported, and now the whole world knows about it."

He went on to emphasise how much Ritchie adores their listeners.

"You should see the smile that she has on her face, and it's when she goes out to community, and when she plays for the Menai Hawks, or she goes down to Scone with you to give away Taylor Swift tickets. Kate says it is the highlight of her life, and she absolutely adores it."

Their words garnered plenty of support from friends and fans.

Podcaster Brittany Hockley commented on their Instagram video, writing: "This should never have been filmed. Sending lots of love and all our support."

Fellow Bachelor alum Alex Nation added: "Well said and love to Kate."

This comes a day after Ritchie released her own statement.

"I struggle with mental health issues at times, which are deeply personal," she wrote in an Instagram post. "This has proven to be a bigger challenge than I imagined."

The radio host confirmed that she is stepping away from her broadcasting duties for now, expressing gratitude to the network for their response to her situation.

"I want to thank all of those who are helping me through this very difficult time. I love you. Thank you, Nova, for being there when I need you."

Ritchie also called out the complete lack of privacy and empathy she was given by the media and shared how much more difficult her recovery has been as a result of the "constant harassment" from the paparazzi.

"My struggle is not helped by the relentless stalking of me by paparazzi, in fact they are making it much worse," she wrote.

Ritchie concluded her statement by requesting privacy as she focuses on her recovery, thanking those who have shown genuine concern and support during this difficult time.

"I appreciate it more than you can imagine. Thank you."
