Behold, Kate Middleton is now a Vogue covergirl.

Move over Kate Moss; British Vogue has a new favourite Kate. Middleton, that is.

The Duchess of Cambridge has made her debut as a Vogue cover girl, appearing on the June issue to mark the magazine’s centenary, with a first look released overnight.

The series of portraits were shot by British photographer Josh Olins in the Norfolk countryside and feature the Duchess laughing and smiling in a number of casual outfits from Burberry and Petit Bateau. (No Jenny Packham or Alexander McQueen ballgowns to see here, folks.)

While she’s still sporting her signature blowdry, we couldn’t help but feel there was something different about her makeup. (Watch: Styling tips from Kate Middleton’s hairdresser, Post continues after video.)

She’s not sporting her usual Royal eyeliner. (Gasp.)

If you’re eagle-eyed you might’ve noticed Kate basically always goes for natural-looking skin, rosy cheeks, a pinky-nude lip and of course, that soft brown smokey eye and carefully tightlined eyes.

Also known as ‘invisible eyeliner’, tightlining your eyes involves framing your eyes without the look of heavy eyeliner. (Post continues after gallery.)

Using a flat brush with gel eyeliner (or pencil if you’re in a hurry), you slightly lift up your eyelid and press and wiggle the product onto the roots of your lashes from the inner corner outwards, then curl and apply mascara as usual. (You can also find mascaras like It Cosmetics Tightline Mascara, around $38, that do the work for you.)

We’re calling it, this is the most pared back and casual we’ve seen the Duchess.

And those slightly thicker brows that caused a public outrage just a few months ago? One might say they’re “on fleek”.

“I am hugely grateful that we have been able to continue with our tradition of outstanding royal portraiture,” Vogue editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman said.

“The Duchess watched how Josh worked with the light and asked a lot of questions. It was her choice to shoot that picture where she is leaning over the gate because the late afternoon sun was particularly beautiful.”

Two of the seven portraits of Middleton from the magazine have also been added to the current Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

While the Queen and other members have appeared inside Vogue, Middleton is just the second British royal to get the cover. The first? Her mother-in-law Princess Diana who appeared on four issues, including 1994 edition in portraits to mark her birthday.
